The Autumn Offering "Silence and Goodbye"

When you shoot a band, is it common to shoot them performing to the track multiple times so you can get the full performance of each band member?

Or do you choose times to cut and move to a different person for your script.

Im just curious what the flow of events is when shooting a music video.

ive been asked to do a music video also, and turned it down, because I simply am not familiar with the workflow of filming a music video. I'd love to hear how much coverage you typically get.

We usually run through the song on each angle, unless there is a specific part of the song and band member we want to do. But otherwise every angle you see in the video, was shot in the full length of the song...The more the better as far as footage goes, especially shooting digital.

A slightly better version is up on my website:

Are you talking about the version on my website? I just did a custom export as .flv in after effects, i think its like 700kbps or something like that, nothing crazy.

the video looked real good, my only complaint is the band themself. Premiered on Headbanger's ball, but it never got tough? For such a metal looking band, I was bummed. But, that's not your fault!!

That was awesome. I do have a question. I am still new to the HVX game, just got mine in Dec., what did you do to get the diffused look off of your whites? IS that done in camera or in post.

Thanks

The diffusion was done in post...In every shoot i always feel its best to shoot with a clean slate and then add what you will, in post.
