uwe boll will quit filmmaking-click here lol

JR,

I have to say better than 100% of the people here. I don't see anyone with that many directing and producing credits on this board.

Saturin, I would like to see you direct something for the big screen, get the funding, and get it shown. :) When you get 24 separate producing credits and 19 directing credits....

Then you can call him a "douche"

Come on. I think many people on this board, given the same budgets and casts he's gotten, would make better films that he has. His only talent seems to be in getting those budgets and casts together, but that does not equal filmmaking talent.

Here's his secret, his investors WANT his movies to suck--

"Boll is able to acquire funding thanks to German tax laws that reward investments in film. The law allows investors in German-owned films to write off 100% of their investment as a tax deduction; it also allows them to invest borrowed money and write off any fees associated with the loan. The investor is then only required to pay taxes on the profits made by the movie; if the movie loses money, the investor gets a tax writeoff."

The only reason that Boll is able to continue making his terrible (and yes, I think the majority of people here could make better films with the same budgets) is because of Germany's tax incentives and cinema-related laws. The man is quite possibly the biggest prick in the film industry.

His films suck, but I agree; let him make them. He's better than 99.9 % of the filmmakers here.

I assume you're including youself in that 99.9%.

heres an update.

And here's Boll defending his 'genius' and his work in cinema. The article isa little behind though, the signatures are now 19,000 away from 200,000. that is 1/5 of the signatures 'required' to make him quit.

Considaring that when I figured 'what the hell' and signed last night there was only 173,000 + signatures that says something.

Granted its what we've all been saying for years "stop ****ing making Films Boll'.

If this by some chance manages to get 500,000 signautes within the next week or so this petition could become as amusing as the presidental race. I'll have to keep up with this :P

Definitely for WORSE.

Bah, if you ever listen to an Uwe Boll interview this guy is passionate about filmmaking. He may not be very good, but if nothing else like Hudson said he IS better than 99.9% of us here. Why? He's able to GET THE FUNDING. That tax loophole that everybody keeps mentioning has been closed for two years, but he's still able to convince investors to pour money into his projects and keep making films. How many of us here can say that?

Sod Michael Bay, he's actually got talent Imo. Uwe Boll's just got a perminant coffee cup jammed up his sh1t pipe.

By that logic funding takes precedence over ability. Not to say Funding isn't important, but what we're really talking about here is Talent. Something everyone here has and Boll doesn't. Yet he succeed's, thats only one of many reasons many of us detest him.

It's time for our Congress to remove their collective heads from their collective asses and pass something like this.

Depends your definition of Talent, really. Filmmaking is ultimately as much a business as it is art. Why bother to hate the guy just because he can get money to make his films and you can't? Everyone likes to say, "Oh, give ME the budget that he has and I can make a way better film," but why are you wasting your time complaining and not going out there raising that money and making that film? Boll didn't sit on his ass and wait for investors to hand him money on a silver platter; he probably had to negotiate deals, make promises and do the legwork just like everybody else. Believe it or not that's an important talent in filmmaking too. And he's good at it.
