Shooting slow motion with Firestore and HVX 200

Hi, I am trying to shoot slow motion with the HVX 200. I know how to set it up for slow motion to shoot onto the P2 cards (by changing the frame rate from 24 to my desired frame rate), but I am using the Firestore FS100. I don't know how to set up for slow motion. Do I have to set up the HVX 200 and Firestore? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

First of all, you need the correct firmware for the Firestore.

When shooting, the HVX200 needs to be in 720/24p mode, not 720/24pN (the mode you would use to record slow motion to P2).

I don't remember the exact menu settings for the FS-100, but you choose the frame settings in the FS-100 menus, not on the HVX200. If I remember right, the menus are pretty self-explanatory.

Just don't have your HVX200 in 720/24pN mode, or the FS-100 won't record anything!

there's a VFR setting in the firestore that you can set to 24 frames or 30 frames for playback. It's under one of the many menus, can't think of which one off hand. If I remember correctly, you just shoot in 60p with the HVX. But you definitely have to have the latest firmware for the firestore.

I seem to remember having to match the HVX200 to the FS-100. If you want to shoot at a base 24, the HVX200 needs to be set to 720/24p. If you want to shoot at a base 30, the HVX200 needs to be set to 720/30p. Then you select the matching VFR setting on the FS-100.

Ok, so I've set the HVX200 to 720/24P. The FS100 has the firmware v.4.0

VFR: I noticed this on the firestore, but don't know how to use it. Let's say I want to shoot slow motion at 60 frames. Would I set the HVX200 to 720/24P, and also set the frame rate to 60 frames? I'm not sure what settings are needed on the Firestore and if it'll play back in slow motion from the firestore.

I can't do this from memory. You're going to have to download the FS-100 manual.

What the other user said about having the HVX in 720/60p is making sense now, because that would be the only way that the HVX would be outputting 60 frames of data per second.

You set the FS-100 to "P2 PN" or "Quicktime pN" mode. Then you'd set the HVX to 720/24p mode (NOT pN mode!), and then you'd go into the scene file menu and set "film cam" mode, and change your frame rate to what you want (60fps for the maximum slow-mo).
