Great, I like it!

I like the section where he raps/sings away from the camera, very cool.

I didn't dig him by the water, although it looked stunning, I didn't feel that it fit. I also didn't dig the santa beggar.

But those two critiques are minor, nice work, .. especially for your first project!

Congrats!

Thanks. Which part do you mean? The beginning by the frozen rivver or in front of the bridge at night?

I think he meant the bridge at night. I got the same feeling.

Oh well. I guess it's just a regional thing. The fact that we used the bridge as a backdrop has been giving us great press in our area, It's kinda an icon of our area. It's shot in the same location as the third scene. I wanted to keep one shot running throughout the video, this one seemed the logical choice. Also wanted to balance the shots of him looking at and away from the lens. To each his own I suppose. I appreciate the comments. :)

I loved the bridge background shot. Thought it was an exellent night shot, using the available background lights on the bridge seemed to give more production value. Good work !

How did you light the singer in that scene ?

Thanks man. We had a 3 Arri 650w Fresnels on him, 2 from front and one for backlight. Then some plain work lights for some background stuff. You can see the setup here.

Lights needed to be back a bit to allow room for the crane to move around. Lights were back and high on either side.

great video. pro look and edit. i liked the bridge shot but felt it was overused a bit. did you guys use a steadicam for the walking scene or just handheld?

Just curious, how did you control your 1k work lights from Home Depot?

I have those, and I usually just put a piece of paper on it to soften it. I need gels I know.

Is gels the item you use?

Actually we just used them bare. I have these neat little dimmer things that go between lights and an outlet, they let me use just about any light at half power. We only used the work lights to add extra light when we needed it. I would never use them as main lighting, they look kinda yucky on thier own.

Just an update...I haven't updated this here in a while.

A while back I found out my video got accepted to HDFEST. YAY!

This week we won for Best Inspirational Music video on BET's independent artists awards show! Whoo Hoo!!!

And finally I found out minutes ago that we were just accepted to the Moondance Film Festival!

:D

It's very exciting you've had such good success with this video!

Rap isn't my style of music at all, but as rap goes it's a nice message. Also, I loved the lighting throughout, felt it was very nice and professional looking despite your minimal budget and lighting, it worked well. Editing was nice, locations were varied and added a nice touch. It was a good video. Good job!
