PC: can I delete P2 contents in Explorer?

If you still have the older firmware, deleting the folder works just fine. But the newer firmware (I think starting with the 16gb P2 update) requires you to format the card using P2 Viewer or P2CMS, or inside the camera. If the camera doesn't detect the proper file structure on the card, you'll get an error.
If you want to delete the clips in Windows, all you have to do is is right-click on the card icon and pick "Format."

Thats it..and you should definitly do that..specially with cards higher than 8GB..we had our issues when we just deleted the folders in the explorer..so right click format the card..!

You sure Dave? I thought with 16gb cards and up you had to use the panny software to format or do it in cam otherwise you're making a risky decision.

No, he's right -- Since I run GNU/Linux, I totally forgot that in Windows, the P2 driver provides proper format functionality to the format command in explorer. You should be fine doing this.
The issue with 16gb+ cards is when you use explorer to simply delete everything on the card (leaving it empty), rather than formatting it (which keeps the proper directory structure etc intact).

On Windows, the formatting capability is provided by the Panasonic P2 driver. So you are using official Panasonic formatting, which is why it works.
