Letus extreme VS RedrockMicro

Letus extreme VS RedrockMicro

I would like some insight on comparing the Letus Extreme to the Redrockmicro. RR is introducing its flip module tomorrow but I noticed on another thread that the extreme comes with the flip option. How do these two units compare? I own a RR the images it creates are great but the light loss is tough.

Thanks

as far as im concerned, REd rock is not on par with the other adapters these days. It has edge to edge sharpness issues, and very difficult to setup.

That's is remarkable. How do you possibly operate that? Do you have four foot long arms?

Ok, you got me  I attached the grips lastly before taking this shot. Gave it more 'drama' that way. But in practice i'd attach the grips before the long lens support, so it involves less reach to operate. With shoulder support attached, it actually works ok - for takes, probably not doco work though - build up of strain on wrists.

My rig in Death Valley...

Awesome to see someone using a DVX with the LEX. Death valley photographs very well, I've done some photography out there. The Anza Borrego Desert also very nice. The most amazing looking place (desert that is) I've ever been was at the Dunes out near imperial county (by the border of Arizona and southern California, but I'll never take my equipment out there again, the sand is baby fine and gets into everything, ruined an old tripod and camera of mine, and you quickly learn why nothing survives out there (no plants, bugs, anything). I think it's where they shot some of Star Wars. (photo below of dunes not mine)

Score, i just got my rig ( 14 pounds total, weighed on amazing scale lol ) to fly on my glidecam 4000 pro + smooth shooter.

i'll post picture soon.

The trip was awesome! Wish it could have been longer though. Left on a Sat. morn 1am from socal and came into the valley at sunrise. Then drove home Sun. night. Perfect weather this time of year... and wild desert flowers everywhere :)

Totally go Phil! It's gorgeous and I know you'll be able to capture some amazing stuff. I was dying to rent a HD cam for this short trip but my original DVX had to do. Good thing cause it and my other gear took a beating in my Jeep on the 4x4 trails. But that camera is a champion!

When I can get to the footage I'll totally post it...

YES! A heavy and FAST Canon 85mm f1.2L
I'll post some grabs from the lens when I capture the footage.

In the meantime... Here's a few more photos of the majestic valley:

I have a couple of days free before NAB so will definately go there then. Was going to go drive to Grand Canyon till I saw how far away it is! Looks like Red Rock Canyon on the Saturday and Death Valley on the Sunday. Can't wait!

oh crap, didn't think you'd guys seroiusly want to see it, haha, okay ill take some this morning and post.

That is awesome! I'm gonna try flying my rig on a glidecam (I'll rent one) when my rig is done. How long did it take you to balance that and what lens do you usually shoot with when flying it to make it easier on yourself a 28mm?

Hi Papa
Sweet rig...
Just wondering how well that FF works with the spongy gear? Where can I purchase one? Also what Mattebox do have on that rig?

spongy gear works just fine. I wouldn't however, use it if i had to mark focus, but for run and gun stuff it's perfectly fine

I use my 24mm lens. I try to shoot F4 or F2.8 for deeper depth of field, and keep my focus between 7 feet and infinity.

And doesn't take me long to balance it, once you've been using the glidecam for a few years, it's really simple.
