Logos for DVD sleeves

Hello

Hello

Just FYI, you need authorisation to use the DVD logo on your DVDs. And I'd imagine the Dolby logo as well...

Yeah I was about to say that. you CAN'T use it at all if you dont get permission from them. They're not gonna to send a cease and decease letter either. they're going straight for the jugular.

You Like????? It's just a simple (no pun intended) and quick design i made with photoshop.

Why do you need permission for the Dolby logo? If it's encoded in Dolby then why do you need permission to stick it on the label?

Yes. Id really like to know why we need permission for that. You buy a mercedes. Your a famous personality. Someone interviews you about your lifestyle. You cant tell them that you own a merc ? You bought it,,, you can flaunt it right ? We buy a NLE which has a licensed Dolby Digital Encoding. But wait a minute you cant advertise that your edit suite has dolby mixing facilities ? You have indirectly paid for the facility/encoder. Why cant we say we have used it ? I still really dont understand the logic behind what these companies or associations enforce.

getting permission from dolby is the easiest thing in the world. and it's free. all you have to do is fill out the paper work, send them a copy so they can verify you followed the guidelines and your good. and if you do it under a company, that's the only time you have to do it. your company is then clear to use it on subsequent titles.

go to Dolby.com and look for the TradeMark agreement for DVD covers and the Broadcast agreement if you want to put it in your credits. both are free. only adding it to theatrical prints costs money because they will review the film in a theater.

Thanks Zak! I didn't even know that.

On a side note. The email you sent us. Will there be a recorded version afterwards? We live in NY and can't make it to the LA event.
