Since Jan posted about this a month ago and said the fix was week away taking the camera in for service when even the manufacturer does'nt know whats wrong does'nt seem like a good idea.
Actually the lens I was thinking of was the Cooke 18-100 although I think I'd need somebody else to carry it around!
Yes, I did. And I used manual white balance. And it performed stellarly. I'm not a big fan of daylight presets; the preset for tungsten makes sense but for daylight, the color throughout the day can be anywhere from 3,000 to 10,000K or more, so I typically perform a manual white balance when shooting outdoors.Neither you nor Barry noticed this on the pre-pro models that you played with before they were launched? Didn't Barry shoot this camera outside in Alaska or some such thing.
Since you're not really with the manufacturer perhaps someone from Panny-san would like to come on the board and explain whats going on. I'm still shell shocked that they let this out this way. A basic function of any camera even the cheapest is to be able to render daylight properly out of the box. Did they think no one would notice?
I really wish they'd be a little more transparent about the problem. Not being so leads me to believe its a can of worms that they don't want to open. Jan says its a software problem. OK but where in the system. Did they do it originally to cover up some other problem they felt was worse? Inquiring minds you know especially since it's my money not theirs. Sorry but I've got a bad taste in mouth and it may take a shot or two of Lagavullin to remove it.
Cheers
In a way I was just speaking metaphorically. I mean they must test cameras everyday. I've shot with most cameras they've produced in the last ten years. This is the only one thats had this problem. If it was just problem of lights in the studio why has it taken so long to resolve. I'm not at fault here Panasonic is for shipping defevtive merchandise.
