Best Tripod to for HVX200 and RedRock???

Ok so I got my HVX200 all set up with my RedRock. I have a tripod (Sunpack7575) its not really great but it works well with just the cameras on it. Now, when I put the HVX200 with the RedRock on it, it held it but it was VERY loose and leaning all over the place. Which I obviously did not feel safe with. So to my question. Which tripod should I buy to best support this setup? I want suggestions on both the HEAD and LEGS. basically a full setup.

O yea and my budget. Well I really don't have a set budget but obviously I am not made of money so. Something over 2000 would be to much for me to spend on a tripod right now.

Thanks,
Javi

Ok thanks. Anything that might be a little cheaper?

Is that a fluid head? The one you suggested.

i'm using the cartoni focus f100 head with my hvx+redrock with great results.

i can tell you first hand that the counterbalance spring in the 503hdv is not quite strong enough for a rig this size.

the focus handles it even with a marshall onboard. it will hold it's tilt position even with the fluid drag turned all the way down.

Nextgenneo,

You can read all about it here

no adjustments for drag or counter spring? that sucks.

after dumping my 503 i will never again buy a head without an adjustable spring. it is so hard to get fluid tilts while fighting the weight of a heavy cam on a weak spring or a heavy spring on a lightweight cam. i can't believe the guy who wrote that article hated the focus but loved a head with no adjustments.... crazy.

I use the Bogen 516 head for my HVX/M2 setup. Works very nicely. 503 is not enough, and 526 might be slight overkill, given your budget and payload. I got my 516 head and legs (don't remember model # off the top of my head, but they are single stage with 44 lb capacity) for about $850 at B and H. I also have a follow focus, matte box and monitor on my rig and it comes in just under the capacity for the 516 head.

Of course, this forum is full of positive reviews for the Cartoni Focus system if you want to spend a little more.

Ok so these are the ones you guys have suggested:

Bogen/Manfrotto 526 price: $1,613.00

cartoni focus f100 tripod kit price: $ 1,299.95

Libec 38M(this one kind of pushed me away because it doesn't have the adjustments on it)

Manfrotto 516, 515PKIT price $1,151.00

Manfrotto 516,351MVCF price $1,477.00

I am looking at those last 2 the most. Or the "cartoni focus f100 tripod kit". Why do the last two have such a price difference and is it worth it? Also I was most likely going with the "cartoni focus" because its a bit cheaper. But the question is should I skimp that much or just get the "Bogen/Manfrotto 526 price: $1,613.00". Thanks guys

You can't go wrong with Sachtler.
I just picked up Carbon Fiber legs and a DV 6 SB Head. Wouldn't look back on anything.
This is the best for HVX and M2.
Fluid head is amazing.
It only ran me $ 2,146.95

keep in mind that 100mm heads are compatible with pretty much any 100mm sticks.

to me the cartoni sticks are kinda pricey. they are great and since they are carbon fiber they are light. you can get some nice manfrotto sticks cheaper though. i got the 3193 sticks for around $400 and the f100 head for around $800. the 516 is a good head and pretty well balanced for the rig with the redrock but if you go naked on the hvx from time to time, you will find that spring to be too strong and you'll be fighting it. no adjustment for the spring which is a bummer.
