Fast shutter and adapter

If the wobble is what you mean by being able to see the pattern of the ground glass vibration, then yes.

I had that happen to me in a couple of occasions.
I had to tighten everything and secure the adapter to the rails with rubber bands.

Just curious, would a static adapter benefit in this case with a fast shutter? assuming you had a super fine ground glass?

so let's say you wanted to shoot at a higher shutter speed like over 1/500, if you turned the LEX vibration off would the ground glass be so apparent that it would wreck a shot? Or would it just look more grainy and pass as "acceptable" possibly? Would it look like those non-moving diy 35mm adaptors?

That's what i did two weeks ago. Under the lighting conditions I was shooting, the grain was not visible. So all went well.

I think some static adapters use a 'cleaner' focus screen which results in less grain, but more light loss (i think?).

i would recommend against that. The GG of the LEX is quite large and visible when motor is off. Raising shutter won't make it less visible just because it is off.

Oh I realise that PaPa. What I meant was I was already shooting at 1/250 & 1/500, and NOT that I raised the shutter to 'hide' the gg.
So seeing as I had 'no choice' I turned off the motor, as grain very unvisible in this particular shot was better than a very 'wobbly' un-usable image. :)

Sorry for the late reply..

I want to use these shutter speeds for faster movement indeed... If you have time, check out http://vimeo.com/752553 , simple video of some hvx+lex shots of us. There are 2 shots with dice, which are shot at higher shutter. If not, it would be motion-blurred all the way. Now it looks crisp and clean, but the moving GG is visible...

I don't really care that much about the GG pattern, i think you can even reduce the noise with some post work... its just the movement which totally ruins the shot.. look closely and you'll see it

turning of the LEX will stop the movement ofcourse, but then the shot gets very grainy.

I did some test shots with this scene (50mm canon fd 1.8, all shutter speeds). I'll see if i can put them together in a movie.
