ok so i was fiddling around with my hvx today..got some 720 footage. got home and transfered the footage.. i was just messing around with the footage in after effects and found a nice effect which emulates in my opinion the "film look" quite nicely... and the cool thing is, the effect is in after affects already.. its not a 3rd party plugin. so if u have after effects check it out. .... u open after effects inport ur footage.. put it into the timeline..click on ur footage and add the effect ..goto "effect"..."color correction"..."colorama"

when u first add it the footage will look out of wack completely.. with all the colors really intense.. increase the "blend with original" when u geat near 80% or so u will notice the footage has an old look to it like film shot in the 70's or 80's.. the lower the % the older film look it is.. color film of course..

i found that around 95% and up looks like a good modern film look. also on the photos i posted i added a bit of desaturation and grain..

the first photo is from the original footage... the rest going down are respectivly at 85% colormama... 90%..95%

I don't know if I'd call it film-look, but is does have a color value like that high-contrast TV film that they used in that period.

Where's the Little House on the Prarie girls? I expect them to come running through your shot.

haha oh the film look. to me, it is simply impossible to achieve. while you're color correcting your footage and whatnot you are thinking, "wow, i've really achieved a film like effect!" but then you look at the same clip 10 minutes later and say, "what was i thinking when i did this?" its a very frustrating game, it really is
