Favorite carry-on bag for HPX?

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a really good carry-on bag for my HPX. I just got the PortaBrace Smuggler, but it just barely fits my camera and lens (Fuji 13x4.5BERM) and when I put the Smuggler into non-carry on "mode" (with the back and side popped out) it doesn't really fit the camera. So...I'm looking for a different bag. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Peter

I've got the Portabrace carry on case for my HPX 500. The Model # is CO-AB-M

This camera carry on bag measurements conform to the US air carrier restrictions.

Check the length of your camera with the lens. I'm guessing that 4.5mm might be a bit longer then the 17X 7.6 I have.

The Portabrace site has all the specs.

Good luck

Thanks Ed! That is the case that comes with the camera's ENG package, right? I got one of those but it is on backorder. I didn't realize it conformed to the airlines carry-on specs. Have you actually carried it on? How did it work out? I'm guessing you don't have to disassemble the camera to do that. Thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter

The combined measurements of the case (L+H+W) is less then the airline allowance which is ( I think ) 51 inchs. I haven't flown with it yet. But I'm going to Mexico with my HPX on Saturday for a week to film the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuaries in Southern Mexico.
Wish me luck!

Ed

Ps: no modification required

PSS; If your flying be sure to check out the new regulations regarding LI ION batteries!

let me know how it goes Ed! On a plane now with the smuggler -- is actually working out well after I spent a little time with it. Just a regional puddle jumper, but the bag fits under the seat. Nice :)

Good luck on your trip and be sure to report back!

Peter
