Sanken CS3 Vs Sennheiser MKH 50 Vs Schoeps CMC41

I'm looking to buy or hire in one of these for a drama I'm soon to be working on. I have up until this point in my career been working with an MKH60 for both exteriors and interiors but am now getting fed up with the sound I'm getting from it indoors. Which of these mics (which seem to be the ones that are consistently mentioned) wins? And do any others make the grade?
Any advice would be appreciated.

If you think you may be tortured bu future what ifs, just get the schoeps and be done with it. It's only weakness is possible noise in high humidity enviornments and high price... but you will never need to upgrade.

schoeps is waist of money for nothing if you consider dialog only recording
better ge cs-3 as it really the best 1 mic you can get for everything ( extirioors and interiors) and look for good hyper later, there are plenty in almost half price incl mb , gefell , or akg uls 63
if you need hyper that need to work outside m the mkh 50 is the nerrow pattern and about the same as neuman 81 shotgun , better then schoeps for high humidity situation m has low cut filter for less rumbling or proximity efect
, much quit the schoeps for low level recordings

Isn't that to be expected when using a shotgun indoors?...or at least in a room which isn't acoustically dead?

i am asuming someone have 50 doesnt really need schoeps :-)

That is correct. I've been lurking on this site for quite a while and Oleg you tend to be consistently damning towards the shoeps. Do you see any advantages of the schoeps versus the others mentioned?

Oh and the CS mics spoken of are made by Sanken. I live in Britain so not sure where one would buy in the States.

Honestly, I wouldn't get the scheops if the intended purpose was dialogue recording. Once you get into classical recordings, let it be jazz, ensembles then it's worth it! I'm not saying I wouldn't buy the 641 stereo kit, but I'll also add the MK4 capsules for stereo recordings. Think about your priorities, the CS3e will probably be your best all around microphone.

schoeps have some benefit if you need comfortable life - not better sound for dialog
extar cable between the capsule and the preamp - 500usd
swivel joint - 350
cut -1 -600
direct to tx preamp - 550 - so do you have these extar 2500 for 1 mic ?
of course you dont .
no , i have 4 schoepses ( 2hyper + 2 cards ), 2 neuman 150+40+30
4 gefell 210,200 couple of mbhos with all the capsules , 1 mkh 50 and 1 40 ( part as my set . part as my partner set and part as our rentals)
+ about 12shotguns ( few mkh416, mkh 60 , 816,70 ,2 neuman 82 ,meumans 81, schoeps cmt, dpa ( part of my colleg colection)and afew sankens cs-3 .
so for my knoulege and i dont have allot :-),i dont have anyproblem use any of the hyper or cardioid from other brand the schoeps and belnd it wih any of the schotguns bello inside the movie ( usially i have same par on the set)
so yes , for less if you need or cant afford any of the schoeps benefits there is no chance i will ever buy new one for dialog recording only .
esspesially this true for people who whant be safe on every sitution and get more mics to cover their asses .
schoeps is wonderful mic - but sorry why spend more on something that dos the same
about sanken cs-3e , that mic is not the cleanes( mkh-60) , is not the nerrowest (416) pattern and not the smoodest ( neuman 81), but it something that no other mic have , ability to work in spaces or situtions where no other mic can help you ( lets forget conserts or other places where you need to stic the dynamic to your tiefs).
that one is the really one mic i apritiate as truely best overall mic for real life situtions( there some places wher you want much nerro pattern as you work from 10 feet so 816 or 70 may do better job - it hapence twice each year to me and then i have to decide if i like to panish my booman or just throw acouple of wierless to do it better :-))
so these are my 2 shekels about whay not schoeps and why cs-3 ( of course dedicated hyper or card would do better in situation you dont really need the shotgun < so buy 2 mics instead 1 schoeps )

Oleg I'm hearing you and i was leaning away from the schoeps anyway. So like i say, I currently use the MKH60. I also own a 416 but don't use as much for some reason, just out of habit really. Why the sanken over an MKH50?

I agree with everything that Oleg says about CS3, but if you own a MKh60 already why are you looking for another shotgun or a hyper? Buy a mkh40 and you have a nice combination to work on a lot of different situation.

not over 50 , over 60:-)

i would sugest you go with mkh 40 as the 50 not reaaly big cange from a 60 pattern ( but sounds much better interiars)
