Hyson's New HD Matte Box

I don't like being hasty, but I can't help but want to give up on the RR. I mean, go back a page and see what they said a YEAR ago!!! IMHO, credibility on the RR MB is going down the pooper. All talk for two years, and we still haven't even seen a picture of a production model yet.

The Hyson X looks pretty solid!

I hear you McNeese! It's SO hard to keep waiting when I need a Mattebox like yesterday.

But every time I see the RR MatteBox I can't help but wait longer.

Hysonfilms is working fine for me. I've been looking around for some reviews on the new X MB...anybody know if it's been reviewed yet?

Very cool! www.hysonfilms.com

Hi All

The production photos of the microMatteBox will come at the same time we start shipping to the first reservation holders, which can now be measured in weeks. We have updated our forum threads on our site to highlight the improvements the production version has over the prototype model, which is pictured on our website.

It has indeed been a long haul for the microMatteBox - with the redesign we did for Red One support, it delayed us quite a bit. Once it's out, there will be nothing like it.

As always, if you have specific questions I can answer for you please do ask. We will be sending the final ship schedule to our reservation holders and then posted to the various online forums this week.

I remember seeing the RR matte box a year ago... got real excited, and waited. Summer 2007 was going to be awesome. Then it was the end of Summer/September. Now it's 6 months since then and still nothing but the same "it's just around the corner" stuff...

I don't mean to be so harsh, but I think it's definitely better to release something when it's ready, than to get everyone's hopes up about something that is supposed to be ready "soon"... I've seen other companies do that to try and get people to not consider existing alternatives...

Anyhow, I waited long enough, and will be buying the x-matte.

Has anybody tried this HysonFilm X Mattebox? It looks like a pretty sweet piece of gear, and got me interrested, but I'd like to hear owners' opinions about its built and durability. Mos there seems to love their DV mattebox, but what about the X?

I sometimes rent my stuff so I need a solid mattebox, or at least as sturdy as can be, anyone care to chat a bit about theirs? Price seems like a killer deal for the looks it gives your rig, that's for sure!

Thanks!

Gabe
