I want to sell my canon cac lens that came with my HPX. It breathes indeed and i want a wider angle but 17x as well.
I founnd this SD lens, Canon J17ex7.7BWRSE.
can anybody tell me if this is a breather.
 
Hi there, I don´t think that breathing is that much of a practical problem during shooting, because it has to do a lot with physics(?). And: I don´t think 7.7mm is that much of a wideangle...

Just my opinion...
 
you're right not much of a wide angle. I do al ot of documantaries and commercials and a lot of focuspulls, so this lens I can only use for ENG ( that canon lens with HPX)
 
I have a Fuji 17X HD that came with the HPX-500. Overall I'm pretty happy.
I have a question.

Is there any reason why I wouldn't be able to use this lens on my old 4X3 aspect betacam?

Just got my 17x BerM today...some footage, but early footage are promising.

Had this Fujinon 17.6BERM lens for a couple of months now, and I cant seem to set the "auto focus"....does any one know how to switch on Auto Focus??

Watching this with GREAT interest. I'm looking at an HPX500 in the near future, but I don't want to have to spring for a lens- especially as I have 4 2/3" SD lenses.
From the other thread, it seems the newest- an XJ18x8B4KRS- will not be much good.
But the older lenses include a J8x6B4 KRS wide- (a little battered on the outside, it came "free" with an older jvc camera we've ditched, but the optics are ok I think).
Also a J15x9.5B4 IRS.
And an old Fujinon A14x10BRM.
I hope! that one of these will be ok. Any stand out as SD lenses people have tried on an HPX500 and liked- or that have come up well short? I gather the J8x6 is a good possibility- looks ok on the dxc35, but I'm not sure how that will translate to shooting 16:9 on an HPX555.
