Think You're Having a Bad Day at Work?

Mark, check out this other genuine shark attack photo:

Dude, I am soooooo disillusioned right now.

One year at thanksgiving... my mom took out the turkey just as the thermometer was due to pop out... and because of how well the turkey was sealed with stuffing there was excess pressure built up... and when she opened the oven the thermometer popped out and stuck her in the jugular... we had to rush her to the hospital... but everything worked out alright and we had thanksgiving dinner in her hospital room later that night. I'll see if I can find a picture, but in the meantime be sure to tell all your friends... this story has already been published in the Botswanian Reporter... right under a Dennis the Menace cartoon... on page 6... so it's true.

Is your mom's name Lemonjello?

I dunno...not a fan of urban legends in general, but the thought of Mister Rogers as a Navy Seal *is* pretty tasty...

when she opened the oven the thermometer popped out and stuck her in the jugular... we had to rush her to the hospital... .

Since the meat thermometer was in her jugular, I guess that means the floor nurses didn't need to take her temperature. Funny how life has a way of turning lemons into lemonade when you'd least expect it.

hehe, oh the joys of the props department..

"I want a scary real looking shark, just make it happen.."

Obviously another greenscreen/photoshop hack. Look closely at the shark's nose, you can see jaggies.

I can't believe you guys keep falling for these tall tales.

Hmm, not sure looks like a prop, the shadows on the wall and shadows on the shark itself not to mention the perfect colourspace, if its a photoshop then I'm impressed!

Someone sent me a bunch of really great pics, but this one takes the cake:

Another few dead giveaways being that (a) the British Navy does not, and never has operated the HH-60 helicopter (b) if you look at the tail you can see where the USAF insignia was kind of crudely blotched out and (c) the Golden Gate Bridge, in the background, is not located in Australia.

Another dead giveaway is the lighting on the shark, or rather the underbelly of the shark. Notice the bright yellow light that seems to be reflected off of the water onto his belly. Also the shadows are just odd. He shouldn't be as well lit if anything as he is almost directly underneath the helicopter.

Bah, it's just so obvious. It pretty good though, must say. But if I find the right photos, and take my time I'm sure I can do something similar.

These e-mails remind me of the whole Tommy Hilfigure thing. I remember studying this in class. It used to be directed towards urban youth, a lot of blacks. However an e-mail spread that claimed that Tommy was on Oprah and said some slander about black people. Most people believed this (even my gf until recently), and they say it's one of the reasons for his sudden downfall, although not the only one.

Only, Tommy never said anything racist, and never even met Oprah in his life. They both had to announce that this e-mail wasn't telling the truth, but it was too late and the damage had been done.

Nowadays we're less influential, but it frustrates me that people will believe anything, especially if it claims to have been in some news paper or on some show.
