X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine. Liev Shrieber as Sabertooth (ugh. I hate him, why not bring back Tyler Mane?). Ryan Reynolds is supposedly playing Deadpool.

Big news for Gambit fans. He WILL be in the Wolverine movie.

The Silver Fox cast as well

Danny Huston playing Stryker.

I'm a bit worried about Gambit being in the Wolverine back story. He has no place there, but it'll be interesting to see what comes of it.

This sounds terrible, but people will flock to it and hand over their $$$$.

They'll probably spend less $$$$ on the script and director, just because they know that even if they make Wolverine a transvestite, people will still go to see it.

I would love to see Felicity Huffman as Wolverine!

Ha, I can see Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. :D As for Tyler Mane, I think he's OK if you want a guy who just stands and growls, but if you're going to do anything pre-Sabretooth with Victor Creed, it makes sense to hire an actual actor...

I dunno, if this is done right (like X1 and X2), it could be good. OTOH, it could be done like X3... The director's pretty unknown, and the writer's written what seems to be some more serious fare, so hard to say at this point...

gambit was probably my favorite 'x' character, but yeah, don't see how he really fits into wolverine's back story.

after X3, i will tell you this. i'm not even waiting for the DVD. i'm waiting for HBO.

I gotta say, when I was a kid Wolverine was one of my favorite comic heroes and I liked about him is how thorned and conflicted inside this man was. I don't think Huge Jackass...ops...I mean Hugh Jackman ever truly captured this essential essence of the character. To be frank I don't like what Jackman did with wolverine at all. Not to mention that Wolverine was a very short fella. I think that a good choice would have been a young Harvey Keitel after gaining a few pounds os muscle. His fierce and he's a real actor, not some tall stuf the studios got for marketing reasons.

There's a heap of different actors more suited to portray Wolverine as he is in the comics but they went against the grain for most of the casting in the X-Men flicks.

The X-men franchise is full of potential for excelent stories. Unfortunately, by selecting Wolverine, I cannot see anything else but a "Rambo-esque approach", one man army style, full of explosions and occasional melodrama.

I hope they prove me wrong. Wolverine is probably the most popular character in the X-Men world ( it makes marketing sense), but is it a character worth a feature lengh movie? Its universe is just too surreal- high tech gadjetry, military conspiracies and mutant melodrama...

If I was to do a X-Men movie, I would love to do a Magneto/ Xavier one- the early years, and the moment they defined their paths.

Or maybe adapt the "Marvels" mini-series. This, IMO, would be a blockbuster film franchise.
