Hey guys, I just finished up a music video for a sixteen year old hip hop kid named Baby Jay. He is a positive rapper and performs at schools around the country.
I shot it in Houston, Texas and edited and color corrected it at my studio in beautiful, scenic New Jersey.

If you'd like, you can check it out here:

Girl If U Were Mine by Baby Jay

I shot it with a HVX200 and a Letus Extreme.

Thanks!

Thanks! I use Automatic duck to get the video out of FCP and into AfterEffects. Then I use AE and Colorista and Color Finesse plug in.

Thanks Tom, most people don't understand the importance of art direction. We had very little money for it but we did spend a day just location scouting in Houston and we just happened to drive by that green building and the shot where he singing in profile was an abandoned gas station right behind the green building. Also, the factory BG was government property so we shot there at 7AM on a Sunday and was able to get two hours in before the Men in Black Sedans told us to leave.

All I kept thinking as I shot there was, "Someone actually woke up one morning and decided on that color! God Bless 'em!"

Very nice work! I actually just heard you on The Digital Production Buzz. Nice to see you are a member here as well.

Ho...

It's a fairly expensive Plug In that exports your Final Cut timeline into After Effects and it keeps everything intact. Every layer in FCP becomes it own layer in AE. It works great and it's invaluable, but costs 500 big ones.

Although haven't tried... I thought one can export from FCP(6) to AE without Auto. Duck.
Am I wrong in thinking this?

Hi,

This video has a nice clean feeling to it. I was wondering how much noise the video picks up at a bigger size. What were your thoughts about the HVX200's noise levels on this project and what did you do to combat that if anything? Thanks... good work!

Well there's really no getting around the noise issue with an HVX. I just try to have a very dynamic, range of light in the image. Even in a dark shot I try to have something small but bright in there. It seems to help get rid of some noise. When the image is very gray and too mid-toney, the grain really pops. I also use a touch of the REMOVE GRAIN filter in AfterEffects.
