Earlier in the thread there was some talk of Themes instead of Genres - but it seems like most of the suggestions being thrown out now are either Genre or Styles again. I'm just curious - if there were another 'theme' fest...what themes would people like to explore?
Oh I got it; like my Wife or Dad.
Well Love was good because it allowed for so much variation in stories.
Someone a ways back mentioned Death. DeathFest. BirthFest(taken any way the mods determine to allow for the birth of a child to the birth of a star, say, a new beginning basically). HateFest is a good one(again with the mods determining the boundaries.) I think the broader and more universal the theme, the better. I mean, it seemed like Lovefest proved that hands down. I even think FightFest is a good one, because a fight can be anything from a boxing match to a job negotiation.
Keep the camera or whatever if you want(though I find this generally a silly thing). But I think you guys need to get a little more strict about it, or drop it. I mean, what's the point of including a camera in the film if it's in the credits? I made a genuine effort to include it in the STORY and have it say something about the character, as some others did, but now I'm like: "Why didn't I just leave it on the table, in the back corner, out of focus somewhere?" I also think including a prop to prove we made the films for this fest is silly too. I mean, in this community, someone who tries to put one over in a fest will get slammed on the board for it. So I think that would work itself out.
But Themes seem like they will be the best, as as we see, if someone wants to do a 1760 piece or a Kung Fu piece, they could have done those in LoveFest. For the love of God, do not do SilentFest or something similarly gimmicky. These fests are really maturing and the overall quality of work obviously growing. Let's not throttle that with silly things like SepiaFest or whatever.
But kudos, as good as some previous fests have been, this one felt like a new level, not only in films, but in how you guys ran it, set up the systems, etc. Was a pleasure to be a part of.
I know you slept with that woman.
Mark you're getting very passionate about this. However, I agree with everything you said. The expansion of the fests through Theme have been really nice. The outcome is that every fest is a progression, as well. Each time there's a thread stating "these keep getting better and better". So, why take a step back? Unless the fest mods need a little break and could use less entries. I know you slept with that woman.
Man, if I had a clara-bot I would never leave the house.
You leave the house?

Yeah, I'm not trying to come hard on the fest, just spewing out thoughts as they came to me about it.

I particularly like the "etc, etc, etc." as a theme. :cheesy:I definitely like the THEME fests instead of specific GENRES because, as it's been said a thousand times, you get more variety. I threw out some ideas earlier in the week regarding different emotions which could be turned into THEMES but I think Zak pretty much covered it:
"AngerFest, AweFest, CourageFest, DesireFest, EnvyFest, EcstasyFest, FearFest, FriendshipFest, GriefFest, GuiltFest, HateFest, HappinessFest, HonorFest, HopeFest, JoyFest, NostalgiaFest, PainFest, ParanoiaFest, PeaceFest, PhobiaFest, PrideFest, RageFest, RegretFest, SchadenfreudeFest, SexFest, ShockFest, etc, etc, etc."
