I would definitely be interested- It's funny because i have a project coming up were the steadicam would be a powerful tool; i just would require either an op or to learn on my own and get to work. I always wanted to work a stabilizer so i began to browse for workshops, and with non announced yet for this yea i'd like to help get this off the ground.

OK, so it looks like we have 7 people interested (5 on the DVinfo thread, and 2 on DVXuser). From what I can tell, if we have 6, 7 or 8, they will probably post a public workshop on their website for somtime this summer, and then wait to see if they get a full class of 9. But if we can get a group of 9 people, then they will hold a private workshop, probably much sooner. Since it's only been a week and we already seem to have 7 people interested, I would wait a little longer to see if we can get 9. In any case, I'll email the instructor again and see what he says.

OK, Just got an update on the NYC area workshop from Peter the instructor.

He is looking at a Steadicam Workshop in the NY area in the next few months. Date to be announced within a day or so. ANYONE who wants in should email Peter at peter@thesteadicamworkshops.com to get on the list. That way, he can insure that the people expressing interest on these threads actually get in. Once he has 9 names, the workshop is closed.

I'm going to throw in here that this is a fantastic opportunity.

If you have a Steadicam (or similar stabilizer), or are in the market for one - even just considering it, I HIGHLY recommend this course.

Or if you are a DP, or director, or.. who may some day work with Steadicam (be it another operator), it's also a good idea.

Peter is a fantastic teacher, these courses are great and with Peter teaching, you time & money will definitely not be wasted, even if you never pick up a Steadicam again after the course.

I sent out my email- cant' wait for the workshop... I think I may also be getting a Flyer Later this year so it'll definitely come in handy to get into a workshop.

Hauppauge New York?
Isn't this suppose to be in NYC?
this is like 50 miles.
Who is going and how?

This will be a *very* long trip for me. Well over two hours each way from the upper west side if I drive. Not much better, if any, by train(s). In all likelihood it will be a deal breaker. Very unfortunate.

The main way from NYC would be to either drive it or take the LIRR to Central Islip (or the stop right before it) and take a short cab ride to the factory from there. It's a haul but i'm debating/working out the logistics of it all being that i won't be driving so the 2nd option is my main option. the trip should roughly take approx. an hour and a half; so it's time to get in super early bird mode i suppose.

I'll either be taking the LIRR or driving (probably a mix, depending on how much equipment I'll be bringing), but I'll be coming from Brooklyn, so it won't be as bad of a commute, probably an hour each way.

For those of you who transportation will be an issue, might there be any hotels around Hauppauge that would make it reasonable? It'd be a shame to miss the workshop just because it's a long drive.
