I've got this DVX100B about 4 months ago, brand new, now it has 5 hours on the heads. I've used it for some footage test and an interview job.
I set the camera to servo zoom, and in the middle of the interview the zoom stop working.

Then i get home hoping it self fix, but it didn't of course.
Now i can make the servo zoom works only if i help it by slighty moving the manual zoom ring.

what the f**k happened??:furious3:
I'm very careful with it, only 5 hours on the heads!!

I cannot believe i need to take it to the service and some guy disassemble it!

Anyone had an issue like this?

Which zoom rocker are you using?
----if using the zoom handle rocker, is the speed switch set to position 2?
--------if yes, is the handle switch zoom setting set to OFF? (sw mode/handle zoom/(l/off/h)).
Are you using the camera hand-held?
----if yes, are you using the handle zoom and is your knuckle contacting the large rocker?

I'm using the hand-held zoom, not the one that goes in the handle.
However none of the zoom controls works properly, neither the remote control zoom!!

camera was on a tripod, it just stop zooming.
I'm gonna check those settings you say, but i don't think that's the problem.

thnks.

Sounds like you switched it off on the handle.

No, it seems like it's broken.
it only works if i help the servo zoom by slightly move the manual zoom ring.

I'm very sad and can't believe this. The camera has 5 hrs, bought 4 months ago brand new.

this week i'm taking it to the service. :(

Is the position of the zoom switch (front of camera under the lense), set to manual or servo?

i set it to servo when i need auto zoom, i set it to manual when i need manual zoom.

i've been very careful about not using the manual ring when the zoom is set to servo.

the dvx100 has warranty, but i can't believe it needs repair!:furious3:

Same ZOOM Problem...

Same ZOOM Problem...

I have the same camera and the same exact thing happened to me. I was using it and it just stopped. I checked all the settings on the camera and in the menus and nothing. I only have 10 hours on the camera! I wonder if there are more people out there with this problem?

I have a Varizoom remote control for the zoom, focus and iris and I get the same result. The focus and iris controls work, but no focus. I know the Varizoom works because I tested on my other cameras.

I guess I'm going to have to send it in.

it seems like i'm not alone!

My camera has the same symptoms you described, focus and iris works, but no zoom.

tomorrow i'm going to the local Panasonic service, any updates i'll let yo know.
Good luck!

Maybe out of topic but can you change the DVX100B's zoom speed. Not on the handle but main zoom button. Private message me the answer pease i don't go on the forums that much.

i've take my dvx100b to the service and they fix it in about 4 hours.
It was some gears problem on the servo zoom.
they had never seen this problem before, pretty strange for a 5hs camera.
