Indiana Jones 4

There was a dolly shot in Lethal II when Gibson and Glover first go to the stilt house where the entire - like twenty people - crew is visible in a window reflection. The shot isn't in the home video / pay cable releases though.

The four-disc Raiders SD DVD set does indeed have the reflective cobra in it. Maybe Lucas had it cleaned-up for the HD versions?

The DVD I have has no cobra, and I got the four disc DVD set. From theindyexperience.com

"In the original theatrical version of Raiders, when Indiana falls into the Well of Souls, Indy is confronted by a giant cobra that stares him down in a very suspenseful moment. For safety reasons, a plate of glass was placed between Ford and the snake. If you look closely you can see the snake's reflection in the glass when the lighting flashes. This error was later fixed by Lowery Digital for the DVD release of the film. The blooper can now only be seen in the old VHS coppies or in a theatrical print. "

Alright this settles it. Screencaps from my DVD's--

I see no reflection.

To make a correction to my earlier post, I guess Philip Kaufman just helped develop the characters and the story for Raiders and Crusade, instead of writing the screenplay.

Also the story ideas for the new one were created by Lucas and Jeff Nathanson, while Keopp did the screenplay. Nathonson did Rush Hours 2 & 3, Speed 2, The Last Shot, The Terminal, Catch Me if you Can, and a few I hadn't heard of.

I thought Catch Me if You Can was entertaining, but the rest....Yikes!

The story is the most important part. I just don't get it.

Man, I hope I am wrong about this one.

I'm someone who thought the first Indy was a very good movie. But even as a child, I felt the second, and definitely the third, weren't very good at all. Actually, I think watching the third Indy film was the first time in my movie-going life I felt like maybe they weren't giving it their all. Maybe this was about making money over making a great story.

But a few years back I caught the second Indiana Jones on TNT or something and was shocked at how shoddy it was. There were all these holes. The movie tended to wander. A bunch of unnecessary scenes. I swear to you, if you or I walked into a movie studio with that script, we would've been laughed off the premises. It's really all over the place. I guess so many people love this character that they're willing to forgive that stuff. I wish I had the same conviction.

However, I am one of the few people intrigued by this Roswell angle. I don't know anything about it so don't tell me. But that alone will get me into the theatre.

I guess, despite you being absolutely right about this, we all have to realize that these films are an homage to Saturday morning serials. Those were shoddy and full of holes to. Maybe they're not paying homage to Raiders, but the original crappy spirit of the originals?

No matter how bad it is, I think Skull will be better than most of the action-adventure stuff we see today. Except for anything Michael Bay does. He is very, very good.

I thoroughly enjoy 1 & 3, but just don't like Temple for some reason... unless it is a cheesy plot theft by Kevin Smith in the animated Clerks series. I have also been watching the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. Not great, but good stories.

More trailer weirdness. Check out Ray Winstone's belt and pants at around :56 seconds . I guess there was some gun removal going on in the trailer, most likely caused by the MPAA's silly rules about guns in ALL AUDIENCES trailers (they can't be pointed at people or the audience). This must have been done at the last second because it's probably the worst CGI fix I've ever seen.

Wow, Ford is looking pretty old. That trailer is looking pretty cheesy. Hope the film's better than what I see there.

If you frame through it you notice lots of errors, all you have to do is frame through 0:57-1:00 and you'll see all sorts of shifting things.

1) Look at Ray's pants, how they move below his gut. His gut is roto'd its simple to see.
2) Indy's breast pocket shifts a bit, the tracking is slightly off.
3) The guy next to Ray ont he left in the background, not only does his midsection shift away from his body, but the boxes behind him are way off.

The mistakes are just as noticeable in motion.

Part 3 was a bad dream for me.

I was almost embarrassed by it. This is when my hatred of Lucas started.

How can Steve work with this guy ?

GASP!

Last Crusade was one of my absolute favorite movies growing up. Yes, I'm young. I was six when it came out.

Why the hate? Temple of Doom i can see causing so much ire, but Last Crusade is almost as good as Raiders...! I personally like it better, but I won't argue that Raiders is the better movie. :)

I didn't hate it, I just found it lazy and uninspired. It had a lame bad guy, and the chick was hot but had little personality. Temple of Doom at least has a kind of heedless energy to it, with really bad, bad guys. And Kate Capshaw was annoying but I liked Short Round (although I know many don't). Of the three films, Last Crusade was the only one I shut off halfway through when watching the new DVD's.

As for the poster above who loved it when he was six, I've spoken to several people who saw it pretty young and loved it then. To think there are probably teenagers who saw The Phantom Menace when they were 6 and have fond memories of it...the horror!!!

That is hilarious I didn't notice that first time around, but now that you point it out I can't not see it. I was too busy watching how much Ford's face had aged before.

Well ...

Raiders was a serious action adventure; nominated for best picture and best director.

Temple was a solid follw-up until Shortround started whooping thuggie ass (beginning of the end).

Last Crusade had the once serious Marcus running around like a clown. It turned what could have been a cool father/son story into a joke 'Junior?!'

DONT CALL ME JUNIOR !

The action sequences were uninspired sans the final tank fight.

The old guy in the museum stamping library books and the loud banging that conicided; lame.

Ugggggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!

Hated it.

Well, I worked on this movie for a few weeks as an extra. I can't say much because they made me sign an NDA, but I really don't think you guys will be disappointed. This movie will be a lot of fun.

I love Raiders and the Crusade, the former being the best of the series.

Doom was bad. The only good thing Spielberg got out of it, was his wife. :)

The Indy-es are the perfect popcorn movies for me. Not too deep, but not dumb.

The "old guy in the museum" moment was lame, yes. But also big fun . I'd call it appropriate nonsense.

Oh, please God, put some sense into Lucas' cerebrum! Don't let him spoil my childhood hero!
