Cheap Drive Bay P2 Reader... Anyone tried?

Works great... but not in a MacPro. I have mine in a PC and I mount it from the MacPro over my intranet. This product has been mentioned several times lately... Good luck.

I bought a PCMCIA Reader off the immortal auction site for around 15 bucks including shipping. It is No Frills, PCI Card Mounted Reader. It works like a charm. It is NOT a Front bay mounted reader and only offers one PCMCIA slot. But for for 35 bucks for two of em, and a few IRQ's and PCI, Ill get up off my lazy butt and take the trip to the back of my computer to insert a card, or two.

It is a no-name brand but they were everywhere. If you dont mind walking to the back of your PC, I would say try one of em first. Heck, you could take an Older PC when they used to come with 6 or 7 PCI slots, fill-em up with these, and it would probably work well under WinXP. (it uses IRQ Sharing pretty well) Grab a Can of spray paint, add a little creativity, and make the rear of the PC the front. A dedicated Offloading Machine!

Just food for thought, pardon the humor.
