THE THIRD COMING: A New Action/SciFi

Quick Intro: Names are Gerard and Rich and we have a little indie film company (non-profit) called ZARRANGELO FLIX. We've been making movies under that banner for about five years now. Nice to be part of this forum.

Anyway, here is some information and a few trailers to a film of ours that's due in a few months: THE THIRD COMING.

Trailers:

There are currently three, all which can be viewed on Stage6 or Youtube.
Links to them are on the movie's homepage <<<<<<<<<<<<LINK

Plot: In the year 2012, in the wake of World War III, two astronauts (one a dedicated Catholic; the other an athiest) witness the end of the world from space. They come back only to find their loved ones, their homes, and everything that meant something to them destroyed. Facing physiological and physical torture, they ban together and venture off to what is left of the Vatican, to meet their destiny.

Looking forward to any questions/comments/criticisms you have on the trailers or the film itself. .

Hi,
I think the story idea was good but I found some of the shots in the trailer wre very "game like". They didnt quite look real. But this is just me.

Hope all goes well

Oliver

thanks, oliver.

which trailer were you talking about? there were three

and which particular shots?

Just want to get the remainder of this film right. ;)

I just watched trailer C. Not bad.

Probably WAY too many effects shots. Some aren't bad, some... not great.
The biggest problem I have is with the actors ages. It's hard to believe people of that age playing those roles. They should always play a role that suits their age.

Think of it this way... to you it would be corny to watch a 40 year old guy playing a high school student. Well, to me seeing a kid as an astronaut or President seems wrong.

Now... the fact that you are making this and putting what looks like a lot of time and effort into it is awesome! Only way to learn.

Keep at it. Just remember your audience.

Some really nice shots though. Love the poster!
Great premise as well.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi I watched number C. I also agree with the above post. Maybe not so many effects shots in the tralier?. This might help.

All the best

No, I agree with you completely. our ages definetely let the project down. I guess my only excuse is I feel more comfortable directing my friends than adult, but that's something I'm going to have to get over one day, I suppose.

And to both of you guys, I look back on it now and there's more here I could have done without keying. Some of the shots you see where the characters walk around the ground in the destructed area (more of these in the first trailer), those parts (as well as some others) were background plates I shot at a construction zone. Maybe I should have just brought the actual actors there and shot it instead of keying. :) , oh well.

any other comments?

You don't have to get over it yet. Just be creative and write a script that allows your friends to play roles in their own age bracket. As long as you have some friends who can act that is.

Keep at it though, you're doing fine.

Cheers.

interesting looking project. some nice AE work.

Sorry, but I have to ask ... why even bother putting all your time into everything else when you have a 17 year old playing the president? I never get that.

My favorite types of movies (both to make and to watch) are epic movies. So it's difficult to tell the stories I like to tell when the characters are kids.

I understand what what you're saying. Believe me, I know it lets the project down.

But it's either that or making a mediocre drama about high school. ;)

yeah, but one of those is about to win an Oscar - ok, not really, there's nothing mediocre about it.

Do this sooner rather than later. It takes a lot more planning and respect for time and schedules than inpromptu with friends. Adult - make that any - actors will afford you all the respect you deserve - plus Adults will generally cut you extra slack. Understand, if they answered your casting call they want to be included. Just be as professional as you can and remember that jerks have no age limitation - never be afraid to run 'em off.

Where are you located? I always wanted to play President.

Good luck and Best wishes.
