Cloverfield Trailer Spoof/Homecoming Ad - Must Watch!

Hey everyone,

Check out this year's University of California, Riverside's Homecoming Commercial made by FPS Productions based on this Cloverfield trailer:

Shot under 4 hours with a DVX and XL2, I think we did a pretty good job replicating the original and integrating 'oranges and Scotty the bear' (School mascot) - Something the admin-in-charge insisted on. We were basically given 100 oranges, a guy in a bear suit, and told to spoof Cloverfield in one night at UCR and turn in a completed video the next day. So needless to say, it's far from perfect. That said, I don't think it was as funny as last year's - Simply because the structure of the original trailer is such that you're not supposed to find out anything in the first place and I think that might be something this has fallen into....

... Something we realized this on hindsight. Anyway, this is just the first draft so honest, critical comments are welcome!

I can honestly say I enjoyed that much more than my experience seeing Cloverfield - by far.
 
Haha thanks for the comments guys. Much appreciated (: I totally agree with you CAB; hence the need for a spoof heh.

Haha thanks guys. The school just made us re-do one of the scenes because they felt that there was 'too much blood'. It was the scene where the lead, with blood on the side of his head, addresses the camera directly "My name is...". Sighs. They failed to realize that the actual Cloverfield trailer had even more.

Not like we tried to do a SAW-meets-Cloverfield blood fest but they forced us to re-shoot that without blood. Gah. >.<
