Stock Footage of the UK - financing a trip

Greetings all,

I just got confirmation of an summertime trip to Scotland and the rest of the UK. I'm hoping to try and finance part of the trip by shooting stock footage for a couple of clients, and also opening it up to you beloved DVXusers. IF you have a specific need for something shot on an HVX then let me know and I'd be happy to try and accomodate that. I'll be in Dundee Scotland for a week and up in the highlands and all around Scotland for another week... and then after that I'll have atleast 10 days to go off on my merry way and shoot whatever for whomever.. especially if it's cool stock footage or something I can use on my demo. I will probably be taking my waterhousing as well.. and if it's operational, I MIGHT have our RC helicopter overthere with me as well, but that's a big MIGHT.

So in being so bold and forthright... I'm just looking to help cover this expensive trip. I will be there teaching filmmaking as well for 5 days at the art college in Dundee so if you are interested in that, I could put you in touch with the director. We'll be emphasising story-telling devices and technical camera proficiency and cuts-only FCP editing. Should be a unique opprortunity for me.. I was just thinking that it might be an afforadable opportunity for some of you to get what you'd want without having to go overthere yourself.

HIt me up if you are interested and if you are an HVX user over in Dundee or Scotland then hit me up too. There's a chance we'll need to hire another person to help with some of the shooting and all that jazz...

Cheers all and sorry for the solicitation but I figured some of you might be interested. There's also a very good chance that I'll be doing this thing again in Hong Kong and CHina towards the end of the year.

PEACE.... Justyn

Hey Justyn:

Sounds like fun. I was in Scotland last summer shooting a documentary on the life of William Wallace for the Braveheart Special Edition for Paramount that came out in December. Scotland is amazingly beautiful and interesting.

I shot in Dundee for a day as well as 46 other locations all over the country. Paisley and Paisley Abbey are really interesting. The grounds and especially the graveyard at Scone Palace are breathtakingly beautiful. The view of the Firth of Forth where Alexander III died was a great shot. My favorite place was Ayr, in Alloway in South Ayrshire, the birthplace of the Scottish poet Robert Burns. The place looks like a storybook and has a river running right through the middle of it, it's very cool looking. The Cathedral/Abbey at Roslyn in where they filmed a large part of the DaVinci Code, it's worth a look although they had scaffolding all over it last Summer.

Hopefully you will make it to Glasgow and Edinburgh? Both are majestic, historical and very interesting to shoot as well. Wish I was going with you, sounds like you will have a great time.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or want to discuss. Hope you are bringing large amounts of dollars, the pound has rebounded (it was down to $1.92 or $1.94 recently) so everything is going to cost you a bloody fortune. Petrol is roughly $10.00 per gallon and the hotels and food aren't exactly cheap. Worth it though.

Enjoy!

Yes, PM me when you have time. I want to pick your brain on how you are putting these trips together, I would love to do something like that.

Best,
