Hvx + Redrock M2 Short Film .: Jesus + Juliet :.

The story was different... but it looked like it was shot well. A few shots had boom shadows and DOP shadows, which was kinda weird, lol.

This is going to sound harsh, but only because I don't have to time to be polite at the moment:

1. The story lacked. Immensely. He took the pills, then just died 30 seconds later? why is he named "Jesus FAcking Christ"? "Drunk with the words of his lover"? Please...

2. The acting was pretty bad.

3. The Voice Over acting was awful.

4. The shots actually looked OK... but could really use some post production color grading help.

Again, just pointing out the obvious (and rather rudely I might add), but keep at it.

This isn't a new one as you posted it on here a while back and got it booted off I believe. Overall it's an interesting idea but it's purpose is questionable at best. I'd have to look up what I wrote last time too and I don't think you've changed it much from the other version, right?

Sam- I've never left a video comment, or given criticism. I read everyone else's damaging blows and HAD to watch. First of all I love the way you filmed it; It was organic. I also loved Juliet's dress with cowgirl boots, a classy move. The dialogue reminded me a bit of this short film called Death to the Tinman by Ray Tintori, just less thought out but I think I'd really dig something you sat down and wrote. This was not as bad as everyone else made it out to be. I would watch another one.

that was better looking then 70% of the sh*t on this site. ryan if you dont have time to be polite why would you take the time to even comment on that. wheres your footy buddy??

Hey guys, I really appreciate the criticism. I agree with most of what you guys had to say. I wrote the script and shot this in about 5 hours, it was a bit of an impulse thing. I definitely felt the cinematography was the high point of this film. The story was nothing. I'm a little surprised you guys disliked the acting so much. I thought the kid who played Jesus did pretty well...
Justyn: You're right, I did post it here awhile ago. I did make some changes to the edit though, cleaned things up a bit.
Twerp + stillvague: I appreciate your guys compliments.

Sam

Dun-du-du-daaaahhhh - here comes dipolomacy man!!!

Hi guys, like twerp, I was curious just because of some of the previous comments.

ABOUT THE FILM:
Whilst it didn't really have a story (something that Sam has given a perfectly valid explanation for) it was a nice little camera test / personal challenge it seems.
I thought the acting was OK. No oscars, but certainly not trash.
It DID look pretty though. Really captured warmth in the shots. Though if I were going to say anything about the cinematography, it would be this.
The actors FACES are the most important thing in general. Remember your rule of thirds Sam, and don't place eyes right at the top of the screen. For example, a little tilt with the guys on the swings would have helped dramatically.
But for a 5 hour write / shoot - I think there's work there to be very happy with.

ABOUT THE COMMENTS:
Personally, I think that stillvague was a little harsh on Ryan. Sam quite clearly asked for ' Comments and criticism ' - and that was exactly what he got. Ryan wasn't nasty or overly harsh - he just gave his opinions as requested. In fact - I thought it was all in good humour?!?
I'm sure we've all seen far worse on here anyway!

Keep going sam. I'd love to see more of your stuff, perhaps something with a more fleshed out scripts.. and .... oh... PLEASE BUY A TRIPOD ;)

I liked the overall tone, music, shots, etc. It had a nice, different feel to it. While I didn't care a lot for the story, I could tell with a better script, it could be a pretty good piece. I thought the acting was decent, its hard to find good actors.
Overall: it was original which makes for a lot. Theres too many people out there making films that are way to cliched so its nice to see something different everyone once in a while.
