Here are more shots I took of that bridge:

What a bridge Larry! You're making me want to take my camera out and shoot now. Very well composed shots. By the way, taking stills, really does improve your composition when transferring the skills over to videography - at least it did for me. I have a couple meetings today, but if I find the time I will most definitely go out and shoot.

Thanks! Glad you liked them.

I agree about still photography improving your eye for film/video ... that was my main reason for getting a still camera.

Even in the two short weeks I already see imorovement in the way I evaluate potential shots.

Great shots Larry giving one a good overall look at a real old bridge. Look like the old girl could use a makeover. Is this bridge still in use? Judging by the road signs I'd say yes but the way you captured its condition, I'm not 100% sure. Love the colors!

Yep she's still in use. It's an old country road through an agricultural part of the county so it is limited use, but it is used.

We have another bridge I should shoot for contrast. It was an old railway trestle and after the railway changed their route and disontinued that line they transferred ownership to the city. It fell into great disrepair and was boarded up for a long time.

Their is a narrow road bridge next to it that gets used by vehicles, pedestrians and bikers (bicycling is very popular here). Its so narrow though its really dangerous. So the city gave the old trestle a makeover and made it a foot/bicycle only bridge and it looks great.

Cool photos in this group. Just thought I'd add another one of "Maggie the Dog".

Nice pic. what's method do you use to conver to grayscale? I would have liked it if you left a little tint of color in that shot even if its just a single color like a shade of red.

To go to B&W, I just desatureated the color. Here's one tried to "fake the color" on. I've see others do this, and I'm not really sure how it's done.

I'm not real proficient in Photoshop, although I can start the program 7 out of 10 times!

Larry, both are good, but I prefer the first shot. I've been meaning to experiment with HDR and never could get around to it. I'll have to step my game up haha.

Thanks, I do too ... in fact I have the hi-res version of it as my desktop wallpaper right now :)

I had the first one as my wallpaper until I noticed that Pepsi cup in the grass ... when I get home I'll have to remove that in PS.

That's about it for today's shoot!

EDIT: They were shot with the 18-55mm kit lens and I tried out some grunge techniques from Joey Lawrence's DVD.
