Music Video shot on hvx 200 for Scum of The Earth

what a sick video, looks great. Did you shoot the performance first and then played it on the tv to be recorded? or greenscreen. Im surprise theres barely any comments on this video. Its very creative.

What a great name for a band "Scum of the Earth".

I don't have sound here on my work computer but the video looked pretty cool. I like when you pass frame by the monitors on the floor. Yes, creative.

Quite a nice song actually.. was expecting more growling and that.. but has a nice hook and feel. Also an interesting twist on the the overdone band in a loft video. good to see that.. would be nice to see how you figured out the workflow and the synch and that... cheers

nine cameras were running to nine monitors and they were singing to playback so all nine monitors were synced

well done!

but isn't a very original technique..it's too much similar to Nine Inch Nails video, "Survivalism"... you have cited them using 9 monitors? :-D

but anyway very weel done!

So you had 10 HVXs then?

9 for the monitors, and then one shooting the monitors?

I had 9 various cameras. I didn't care what the picture was coming up on the monitors...i guess if i had real money I would have shot 9 hvx's or at least 9 dvx's, but i had 2 dvx's, 2 gl1's and a bunch of random consumer cameras running to the 9 monitors

the main camera that was capturing everything was hvx

i'm ghetto dudes ;)

How did you get past the clear-scan issues? I see no rolling?

the simple answer: shoot at 144 degrees or 1/60 shutter

detailed answer that I never understood, but do now...tv's if you are shooting film need to have a certain playback as you hear about. So people hire 24 frame playback people.

Well the simple solution to that, that people don't seem to get, is that if you have a film camera that has a variable shutter you just set that shutter to 144 degrees instead of 180 degrees which is what most cameras are defaulted to and you will avoid the scan lines. HVX is no different and you can make that adjustment in the camera. Even the DVX can make that adjustment by going to 1/60 shutter

a lot of people don't realize this, and the 144 shutter looks fairly close to a 1/48 or 180 degree shutter so even if you had dialogue scenes it will look fine. If you have a tv in the shot shoot at 144 degree or 1/60 shutter. This doesn't apply to lcd's which don't need this adjustment just tube monitors

if only someone would have just said that to me...lol
