Here's some 720p graded stills from a video viral we did for the week before Christmas.
They live on a site as part of an integrated campaign. The website details I'll post a little later on.
TECHNICALS
Requirement: 6 Languages [English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portguese & German]
6 actors each portraying the same character but for each language.
59 shots per country. 1 Day shoot per language.
The final format is Flash video On2VP codec at 450x253 resolution
Format: HVX200, SGPRO with 35mm Lenses [Nikon 135mm F2.8 and a Ziess 50mm T1.4].
720P 25PN for best quality against media space [2x16 gig cards were used.
Standard Camera settings except we used Cinelike D [I think - Carl chime in here]
CREW
UK Director: Richard Morgan
Other languages Director/UK 1st AD: Andy Marshall
DOP: Carl Burke
Producer: Anthony Nicols
On a tight budget and an extremely tight deadline the team worked really well to pull this off.
As always there's thing we would like to have done better and with more time for prep we
would have been able to cut the script in half to make a better video viral. That would have
given us more time on each day for better performances.
We shot 720p so we could keep card changes down to a minimum and still have great
looking HD footage. We needed it in the end as with a lot of shots being cut, we had to
zoom into shots to make cuts and also to let shots that weren't supposed to sit next to
each other work. Unfortunately in the final video some of the zoom in shots look soft now
where we've had to blow them up so much to zoom into the image.
Next time I will shoot 1080P for even higher quality.
We used SGPro which was a dream to use and an indiFOCUS pro which worked a treat !
Carl Did a fantastic job of lighting and when you see the set design visual everyone worked
well to bring my vision to life. Carl was the first to repsond to our posting on HVXUser for
a DOP who's worked with 35mm lenses and HVX before and that chance PM meant for a
great collaboration. Carl is Highly recommended.
Andy Marshall did an excellent job of following the viral through in all the languages and
being my sanity on the first day's shoot.
And not forgetting Anthony Nicols for doing an amazing job of pulling all the elements
together for the shoot.
A lot ended up being on the cutting room floor including a magic intro whereby the we push
through a doorway to meet this character. But then it all makes for a better video so its
all worth it.
Here is a set pre-visual which the Set builder and Carl had to match and make even better.
Thanks to everyone involved not just those I mentioned. I'll post a link to the actual site and video later on.
Thanks for your time
