How compatible is Avid Liquid Pro on Macs?

How compatible is Avid Liquid Pro on Macs?

I was thinking of getting FCP Studio 2, but at $NZ 2,000, it seems a lot compared to $NZ 1,200 for Avid Liquid Pro, considering all the other gear I'm getting.

I don't really care what software I use, just as long as I can cut good pictures.

Didn't Avid discontinue Liquid? Or at least slate it for being discontinued?

Another option on the Mac is Adobe Creative Suite 3, especially if you use an HVX. Is that more affordably priced?
