External monitor ideas

I said this before but if there's one thing I REALLY miss about my ex-FX1 is the LCD. It was massive and really sharp (and you could use the magnet trick). Apparently the one on the EX1 is simply amazing.

I don't think that's portable enough.

SOmeone mentioned the EX-1 LCD, those panels have to be sold somewhere now that they're in camera.

can these also connect to a computer, to use as a video out, so that i can open premier pro cs3, and view the footage directly on that monitor? What would it require to do that?

They say they require battery power, but how bout directly connect to a wall?

what do you think about this guy ( i wish i knew more about these monitors ), also, based on the inputs, i don't know how i would connect this to my XH A1.

It looks kind of big. I'd be looking to someting you may be able to mount to a camera or to a tripod with an israeli arm or something...

right now, i have a fine time using the XH A1 lcd with the peak mode on. Also when you have someone doing a follow focus and taking readings, it isn't so much an issue. Its mostly for whoever is not holding the camera, and for me in post.

not trying to steal the thread here stevey. just want to see if i can get some info too :P Maybe this will help you as well? But most likely not, as i am a newb when it comes to monitors.

I've used the HV20, and XH-A1 lcd extensively and if you're careful, they work great between peaking and focus assist. I'm with you Papa in that if you can take a minute to set focus points, the onboard LCD is 100% usable IMHO.

Nevermind, it goes in the viewfinder socket of the XLH1 meaning a lot of modification is necessary......bummer....the search continues

EDIT: Thanks Taylor :)

I find the same thing as Dennis and PaPa; however, it sure is a lot easier and nicer on a larger screen. I'm completely drooling over the thought of a 7" OLED; super sharp, thin and lightweight.

I too am looking for a lightweight, camera-mountable, hi-rez lcd that won't cost a mint. But if you really want to hear about a ghetto-rig - I made a great find for 79 bucks. Audiovox made a (now discontinued) 7" LCD 16:9 tablet-style DVD-player with over 500 lines of horizontal resolution. (the Varizoom lcd I have been using with my DVX is 234 lines, I believe). This tablet LCD originally retailed for $599 but I found it on ecost.com as a refurb for $79. It really is clear and crisp for focus assist on my Canon XH-A1 with the Letus Extreme. I usually hang it from the tripod or mount it on an arm with a superclamp. Model number is the audiovox D1750T. Came with a battery, carrying case, ac adapter and car adapter too - it even has a credit-card sized remote with a zoom function. No flip, but you can mount it upside-down. Too bad my 4-year old daughter keeps stealing it to watch videos on..it won't last long.
