I have an idea for a short. I'm looking for actors willing to work for no pay. It's material adapted from Edgar Allen Poe. How would I go about finding actors? Craig's List charges $75 bucks. Isn't there another way?

crew gigs on craigslist is free, castingconnection is free, too. that's where i get my actors from. there's also a low budget film group on yahoo somewhere that had some dedicated bay area actors i used on my last short, but i didn't get them myself, the DP did so I'm not sure of the website. craigslist is known for flakes, castingconnection is a bit better.

Wow, already getting a lot people requesting the script. I thought no one would inquire because it's a freebie.

Great resource. Thanks man.

Here is another GREAT resource....go to a local theater...community or regional....talk to someone there....community theaters almost ALWAYS recycle their actors...they know each other...they hang out...they are friends...the directors know them and so on...you talk to a director...they will know who to contact or which actor to call. Shoot...they will probably have a HUGE address book...they could send out a mass email asking for a specific type...you will get plenty of hits that way as well.
