MB Looks and sgpro test.

Hey guys!
So I just got my self a new computer and Magic Bullet Looks and since I was dying to test it out I dug up some of my older footie of my photography friend and startet to mess around.
I tried to use some footage I havent exposed before, but some of the shots some of you might recognize. The CC is a bit extreme and I pushed the colors a lot.
The shots are long and dreadful, but I just put it up for those of you who are interested in seing more footage from the sgpro and with some MB looks added to it :)

Right-click, save as..

My settings are:

Master ped: "-6"
Gamma: "normal"
Matrix: "normal"
Detail level: "-4"

And the rest is set to zero :)

Cheers mate!

looks great man. its weird how, especially with the last shot, sometimes the DVX just cant deal with the color red. But regardless, it looks great man. always love your work.

Thanks guys.
I don't have a flip module on it, but maybe I will in the future(if I get some money).
I feel a little guilty posting this old material again, but I'm glad you liked it. Personally I think it's too saturated(notice the green outlines of persons jacket sometimes), but I really do like MB Looks, it's so much more fun to CC now with the new "application" it uses. And with the new computer it only took me 2mins to render the clip in premiere, which I think is very fast concidering there was MB apllied to every shot.
It's such a shame with the dvx's problem with reds, I love the dvx, but man those blocky reds kinda ruins the images :) Even though you try to single out and desaturate the reds in post, they look blocky. Fortunately, when watched on a TV it isn't really noticable.

Thanks again guys :)

Love the sharp image:)
And that b&w footage was superb.. reminded me a little bit of schindler's list..

A new computer?
Congratulations! Would you mind sharing some specs/details of the computer?

Hey tommetass!
My new baby is a desktop pentium core 2 quad cpu, nvidia geforce 8800 GT 512mb alpha dog edition, 4gb ram, a raptor 10 000rpm system hardisk and 1TB extra disk,
and my most precious of all, the 24" Eizo s2431 widescreen lcd :)
I'm officially( i had money in my account for like 1 day) broke again, but it's worth every penny. My 3 year old laptop was about to burn up now.
I probably edit 90% faster with this machine, I'm a happy bunny :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Real sweet footage, nice colors. I liked at the start when you were following the star of this piece, how you kept the focus sharp on him and it didn't drift once. That shows great control with the SG. Maybe would of been nice though with some of the ambient sounds of the forest added into this piece.
Love your work mate.

Nice that sounds pretty nice:)
I have a new computer myself now. It's a Intel Core 2 Quad Core as well:) With 4 Gb ram:P
Would you say that the raptor system makes the editing faster? I just went with a normal 7200rpm harddisk, figured I didn't need a raptor system yet..

Can I ask how much you paid for it? :S

Your photo was beautiful. Very nice cinematography.
As mention above, you pulled great focus work, something that certainly makes your footage look professional. And the colour was great too,
but if I  orderd a video I would tell my photographer to stay with the colour if it looked like yours, because compared with the colour it crushes the b/w.

Keep’em coming!

Very off topic:
If you want speed you should go for a 10000rpm at least in Raid0. But I would say it's a bit over pomped with high rpm discs. But if you want the best,
and already have fast RAM and CPU then a Raid0 solution would bring you some faster static’s. But there is several discussions out there,
tests have said that a really good Raptor (leading in speed) disc would not be loosing a lot compared with a Raid0 setup. And would I go for a new comp,
there would probably be with a Raid0 (2 discs working together = generating double effect) setup for system then continue with my Raid5 1.2Tb setup.
But that’s just me and habits.
And a very congrats to the new comp. It’s very comfortably to have the speed. :)

Thanks again guys!
I wouldnt know how much difference there is in speed between using a raptor or regular disk, been on a laptop for 3 years now :)
But it sure works great now!
I can't wait to get a Follow focus, will make things a lot easier.

This red problem doesn't really occur when the file is AVI. Generally a problem with quicktime compression, macs, and MOV

Though the reds in this clip looks just as blocky when I play back the dv-AVI file in windows media player. Is this common?

all i know, is when i used to own my dvx, i edited in premier, i never once had the blocky red issue. Then when i got my macbook pro, all of a sudden the red virus happened. I sent it back and went back to PC and understood from then on that it had to do with the way quicktime compression worked. I shot the same thing, imported it to my mac and my pc, compared the two, and voila, the difference was clear.

i have the red problem as well. using the magic bullet deartifacter plugin helps somewhat. is there anything else i can do to limit the lines for red objects?

In my two years of shooting with my DVX-b, I never had red issues. The backpack, when sitting on the bench, is crazy. I've also done alot of QT exports. Crazy.

Nice little film, though.

im not talking about exporting, i am talking about capturing via MOV. If you are running a mac and you do not have this issue, then it definitely says something about MOV inconsistencies lol.

okay, i fixed your blocky red problem in sony vegas. click on chroma blur and adjust until the lines go away.
