How do I import and play clips to my Mac Pro?

Hola! I am trying to import clips. I attached the usb cord to the camera and imported a clip from it, but whenever I try to open the quicktime mp4 file, it says it could not be opened because it contains invalid data. I tried loading V1.1 of Clip Browser, but that is useless. I find it interesting Sony didn't put anything about transfering clips to the computer in the manual...maybe it did and I just didn't see it. Bottom-line: How the hell do I successfully open the clips and watch them in QT or CB? Any info would help me tremendously.

Make sure you are using FCP 6.02 and have the newest Sony software installed.

Then, from within FCP, go to File/Import/Sony XDCAM and the XDCAM software will come up.

Select the clips to import from both cards, if applicable and hit the button.

Files should import and be placed in your current FCP project.

I have not been able to install the FC upgrade I bought for my ancient V1.2. It loads all of the programs EXCEPT for FC. Is it possible to import and play clips without using FC? I would think it should work like any digital camera...just plug it into the computer and import files from the cam.
