Why is there no more HVX hardware forum? Bad idea! Please move it back to HVX.

Why has the hardware forum been transfered to a non HVX200 forum???

I think this is a very bad idea. When you discuss something you always have to explain what kind of hardware is needed for the HVX (e.g. specific outputs etc.)
This is time consuming and unnecessary.

Is there a reason why the hardware forum was moved?

Please move it back.

I liked the HVX hardware forum best, because people posting knew what they were talking about.

Now you have to explain over and over what you need for the HVX and why. Doesn´t make sense.

Pleeeease reestablish the HVX200 hardware forum again!!!

It was moved because there were a couple of different hardware sections, and they all had threads concerning pretty much the same topics. Consolidating them into one made the most sense, because many of the threads weren't necessarily about things specific only to the HVX or the DVX, etc..

The Hardware forum will still perform the same function it always has. If you have a question that's HVX-specific, just be sure to say that in your subject line, so everyone will know that's what you're asking about.

I think this is what specialized forums are for: not having to explain over and over what you are asking about. (even if it is only HVX200 - takes subject line space away)

There are a lot of hardware questions specific to the HVX and people not knowing the HVX will answer anyway or ask about the HVX.

When you work with the HVX, you are on a certain level of production, so other HVX users know what you need, even if it is not HVX specific, because they know on which level you are working. (e.g. 4:2:2, approved for most tv stations, HD not approved 100% for certain BBC programs, etc. Therefore people in a special HVX forum have all these facts on their mind) In a general filmmaking forum you have to explain things that are known to HVX200 users.
In my opinion unspecializing is a lot more hassle for the user.

Also, it is not so easy to find answers that are specific to the HVX200.

Especially old HVX200 threads, which don´t mention HVX200 in the subject line cannot be identified as HVX specific.
At least marking those as HVX specific would be a good idea.

Still, I think the best idea is to reestablish the HVX hardware forum again.

Searching will be a great hassle, too.

So please reestablish the HVX hardware section.

We actually talked about for quite some time before we made the decision to move it. We all believe it's the best way to serve the community.

I understand that it's not your preference, and I'm sorry for that. But, we made the change because we believe it was the right thing to do.

I'd like to see all the stickies moved to a stickies section, ha ha!
Some of 'em are a little dated anyhow.

Think about it. Some people (it seems to me) have never read them.
If you're going to read them . . . how many times are you going to?
My scroll finger gets tired scrolling down to see the new stuff.

(end whine).

While there is a downside, I think merging all the Hardware Forums was a good idea overall. So much on the subject isn't camera-specific that some very useful information on Steadicams in the DVX hardware forum for example, would likely be missed by someone who only read the HVX hardware forum (like me), and vice-versa. I know I've found good HVX-relevant stuff in places I don't normally read by searching the whole site. I think a merged forum will make it easier not to miss the good stuff.

I agree that moving it is bad for me and other people like me. I have no wifi at home, only at the studio. Somedays I'm only able to check the forum on my iPhone's EDGE network, which doesn't load fast enough. I check this forum several times a day and now I only check the hardware section once every few days. I have the HVX section bookmarked so going to an extra page to get there is a pain. And I don't want to clutter up my already long list of bookmarks. Bottom line is it's inconvenient and if I can't get there easy, I'll go there less.

I'm okay with a universal hardware forum, but how about putting a second link to that forum where the old HVX hardware forum was? That way, I only have to continue to bookmark the HVX section, and I remain one click away from the essential forums that I read.

I dont know what you guys that like the old way better are thinking?! Seriously I mean no offense but the way before was insane. 5 million threads about which tripod should i get? If nothing else this will make it easier to find info like this. You want seperate audio forums for each camera too? I mean they all have different pre-amps and connections. Why not just bookmark the home page and go from there. Its really pretty easy. sorry for my rant but this has been way overdue - a big thank you to the mods and powers that be for making this change!
