XDCAM transfer and clips across two SxS cards

Has anybody run across this when preparing to edit?

If you've got two SxS cards and your last clip on card one continues onto Card two, when you mount the camera and use XDCAM transfer, you don't have
access to that complete last clip. You have to unmount the camera and first card and remount with the second to get the second half of that last clip... at least that's my experience.

Is the only way to access the entirety of that last cross card clip for editing
to copy the contents the two cards (or at least the last clip on card 1 and first clip on card 2) and then just place them adjacent in a NLE timeline?

Or is there an easier workaround I'm missing. Thanks.

If you can mount both cards at the same time, the import is automatic.

Weirdly, the naming scheme for the combined clip is slightly different from the individual clips.

The easiest way to mount both cards is by connecting the camera to USB with both cards installed.

I've heard that putting the clips adjacent on the timeline may result in gaps in audio or video. The above method will be seamless.

I will try this. Thanks so much for the quick reply! I appreciate it.

Is there some trick to mounting both drives via the USB at the same time?
I've done it only quickly once, but thought I remember it showing me only
one drive at a time.

No trick that I know of - they both seem to mount for me. One is called "Untitled" and one is called "Untitled1" I think.
