EX1 on film

Hum..

Im wondering.. if someone shot a feature with his EX1, using professional lighting and dp, then transferred it to 35mm and showed it in a cinema, if anybody could tell it was shot with a 7k camera?

Perhaps not. Any thoughts?

If they can do it from a $2,500 DVX, they can do it from a $7,000 EX1.

But of course there will be differences from it to film; the question is: will anyone care? On "28 Days Later" the XL1 was blurry enough that people cared, but on an EX1 or comparable, I'd wager that won't be an issue.

Do you have a good enough script that will get your film bumped to 35mm? If your script is good you should be able to get funding to shoot on a higher format. Not to sound like a cynic, but very few features originating on DV/HDV make the bump to 35mm. The ones that do all have decent scripts and/or stars attached to them.

35mm emulsion is dying.

The only reason they haven't pulled the plug is old boy relationships and the fact that theaters (exhibitors) see the writing on the wall and are afraid to pump $100 - $250k into new projectors for all of their rooms.

Theaters are on their way out.

May notice, may not, but Isaac nailed it. If you don't have a good enough script it really doesn't matter what you shoot on, being a no-name and all. However, if you were to get 35mm transfer then I'm pretty sure it'll do fantastic, as the HVX200 looks spectacular projected as well.
