I have some confusion regarding 60i & 60.3i

I've browsed the thread an everybody is talking about 60i. On my 100b the default settings for Scene Files F1-F4 is 60.3.

So what's the difference between 60.3 & 60? I intend to shoot on F1. I don't want to shoot on 24.

Also for those editing on Avid Xpress should I leave my settings as 23.98?

For those editing on Avid Liquid what should be my project settings?

Reason is at home I have Xpress but I'll be also editing at another place that use Liquid.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to answers.

Your camera has 4 different frame rates:

-24p
-24pA
-30p
-60i

Shoot on F1, that's totally cool. Just go into your camera settings and go to 30p if you want 29.97. Or go to OFF for 60i.

I went into my Camera Setup but it won't let me go any lower than 60.3 when I'm in F1-F4 so the 60i is not an option (or so it seems, maybe there's a way i don't know). Which was my reason for asking what was the reason between 60.3 vs 60 since everybody's talking only about 60.

I don't really understand the difference between 30p & 60i so I'm not sure I feel comfortable changing it to 30p.

thanks.

60i is more for news broadcasting, and better for slow mo.

But if you want 60i just go to OFF and it automatically sets it to 60i.

I don't know if there is 60.3...

24p and 24pA are not different frame rates. They're the same frame rate -- 23.976, progressive -- the only difference is the pulldown scheme employed when they're recorded.

Are you sure you're not looking at the synchro-scan shutter speed?

Not if you're shooting 60i.

Standard NTSC.

Ya I knew they were the same, I just thought I'd let him know all of the options.

But your right, I should have said it differently.

cbezeike vbmenu_register("postmenu_1159137", true); , you're confusing shutter speed with frame rate. Two totally different things. Comeau's posts are spot-on, he's talking about the frame rates.

You're talking about the syncro-scan shutter speed, and that's a totally different thing.

Dude -

The camera setup menu doesn't affect the frame rate for recording. The SCENE FILE menu lets you choose between 60i, 30p, 24p, and 24pA.

In the CAMERA SETUP menu, you are looking at the SYNCRO SCAN option, which has to do with exposure. Indeed, when you're shooting at 60i, 60.3 (that is, 1/60.3) is the default for Syncro Scan. In general, you want to leave Syncro Scan OFF.
