Winter, a Fairy Tale

Wow - set construction and departments...
I'm feeling underprepared suddenly.

Good luck this weekend - maybe we'll run into eachother
:)

you and me both. today the wardrobe department (i.e., me) went to target and purchased a $5 sweatshirt the lead actor (also me) will be wearing.

i'll post a picture of the shirt later.

Updates on costume and tech:
Two actors are costume ready.
One is halfway done.
One spent three hours being draped and fitted and wrapped and was basically a human mannequin while the costume designer tried to create the look the director wanted. We now have a design and it looks really fantastic.
The blueprints for the set were also brought over today and every detail is exactly what was ordered. Set dressing commences on Wed.
We shoot Thursday night and everyone is really excited.
Now for a little nap.

With the amount of thought and preparation going into this project, I am certain we are going to have a really top notch entry. Not bragging, just looking at the talented people I am privileged to have the opportunity to work with on this one.
So far it's been a blast and I am more enthused every day.

As promised... sample storyboards!

SWEET boards!

I wish i could do boards like that. I can artistically duplicate anything that I'm looking at extremely well, but I don't have the imagination to pull them out of thin air.

Go figure.

Mike

And you guys thought I was just blowing smoke.....
You should see the blueprints for the indoor set.
You should see the set I'm currently putting together and have only momentarily paused from to say hi.

Thanks for the positives, Luis / Kyser ... Yeah, I tend to go verrry expressionistic when it comes to lighting and composition. Here's hoping that shows through in the end. :)

Oh yeah, Will -- Picking up the effects machines tomorrow at 1 pm, so we should be good to go for the final lighting/smoke tests.

Well, last night was the first night of shooting and... disaster.

...

Just kidding -- It went GREAT. We got some awesome hi-def imagery recorded, which will look even better once we finish post.

Looks like everything is "so far, so good." :)

Nice grabs - good teasers.
:)

Best of luck today - do what you can to stay warm.
(by the way, you know the guys up north at just laughing at us right now, right?)

It was an excellent night of shooting, despite us freezing our respective a** off. I'll let Will or Mike talk more about that. But our workflow went without a hitch. Here's our workflow:

P2 cards to Dell laptop
Check integrity of clips with P2CMS
Transfer to external HDD via P2CMS

Will then converts the MXF files to AVI via Raylight and imports into Vegas. Works like a charm.

cheers,

JP

We have roughly the same workflow. but why convert the files to AVI? We just work with MXFs right in Vegas. Seems like an extra unnecessary step...

Ah, no. I'm not the Vegas guru, it was my understanding that Raylight converted the MXF files to AVI. Vegas can now manipulate native MXF files?

That's what it is then, I don't normally use Vegas, but we're running MXF files through Raylight. Raylight is a great program by the way. I plan on buying a copy for FCP.

cheers,

JP
