Water Damage with On-board Mic

I got caught in a little bit of rain the other day and now my mic isn't picking up sound. If I snap really loud directly in front of it, sometimes it picks it up. Kinda seems like a short in the connection. Has this happened to anyone? Is this an expensive fix? Would it be worth it to just get a shotgun mic? When I got my camera used the shotgun bracket was not included... where can I get a replacement?

Sorry for all of the questions... I just really need a working Mic, haha.

Yeah I realized that is a given, but I kinda meant was it even worth it to fix the onboard mic or should I just get a shotgun?

Has it dried out or is there still moisture inside of it?
If still wet or likely to be so, dont turn the camera on. Since water is conductive, it definitely IS a short. Its a question of whether or not the short is from moisture still present inside the mic or damage within the mic capsule or audio circuit that the water caused. Regardless, get some desiccant bags, put them in a baggy and put the on-board mic inside the baggy for a week or more. Then see what the story is.

Here something you may want to consider:
