Cheap heavy tripod that will hold the DVX plus.. (no fluid head needed)

I'm looking for a cheap'ish sturdy, tall, heavy tripod that can support the DVX plus a Letus35... I don't need a fluid head, the camera will never be 'panned' etc.. any ideas? can anyone point me in a direction?...

I wouldn't say that you're only going to be using it for static shots, you never know when you'll want to do some panning. you can get some halfway decent tripods that have fluid heads for relatively inexpensive. i used this libec to shoot a school play (not much camera movement really) and it worked really nicely.

however, if you really are convinced that you won't be doing any panning with it, i would look at some photo tripods.

Davis & Sanford dist by Tiffen. Provista 7518 I got it at EVS but if you get it at B&H you also get a D3 Universal folding dolly.

i just dont understand whyyour going to never be using it to pan with.....

ive got 2 tripods, a nice fluid head and some cheap crap phototripod. recently lost my clip for my fluid head so i used the cheap one a few times. I had my dvx in prob a 45 degree slanted dirt mount on the tripod and it was fairly sturdy. you can honestly buy a $30 tripod depending on key matters------
-will it be windy
-is there a posibility of it easily being knocked over by a passer by or something?
-whats the surface it will be on?
-will there be a person with the camera at all times?

if its not gonna be windy, no chance of someone bumping it, nice hard surface where it wont tip and your gonna be next to the sucker. especially since you said ur not gonna pan with it and u want cheap- just go buy a tripod at best buy dude

When I bought my DVX100B from Newegg, I also purchased a Vanguard 4 tripod. It is a heavy, sturdy tripod with a smooth 3 axis head. I have used it a couple of times and it does very well and even pans and tilts smoothly. The price was $99.99 and 3 dqy UPS shipping was around $12.00.

Tall, sturdy, cheap, don't need a head. Have you tried just using a ladder?
