"Blind Date" by TheComo, Kegan Sant & John Labonney

Is that 30 people that sent their resumes, or that agreed to come? So far I've had close to 50 people send resumes, and 7 have agreed to come for specific time slots. Did you send confirmation emails to everyone who said they'd be coming?

I've found the disparity between the number of people who express a burning desire to audition for a part and the number of people who schedule a time and the number of people who actually show up to be both predictable and annoying. However, as sad as it is, I think it is likely the "no pay" factor. The flip side to this is, it's a great filter and the ones who do show up are usually (in my experience) very dedicated and enthusiastic. Now I just plan for big interest and little show.

I have typically gotten about a 40% showup rate. That's thousands submitted, 100-200 called, and about 40% of the confirmed show up.

I way overbooked audition space for the first 2 auditions. We ended up sitting around for an hour or so waiting for more to show.

The next auditions I scheduled space according to those numbers and about 90% showed up. The casting office stayed open an hour later to accommodate us, but when we finally had to leave, there were still about 30 people waiting to be seen. They were not happy.

I dont know what they story is in Canada-eh, but in LA, it's tough to tell. There are more people here serious about acting, but they are also 1000x flakier than anywhere else on Earth. Ad to that the fact that they'll ditch you for another audition in a second...

My last audition session went perfect. I dont remember numbers or the amount of time I scheduled, but we were in and out in exact time and not a hiccup, rush, or slowdown.

I dont know if I'm getting better, or getting lucky.

They're asking who actually CONFIRMED that they were coming. Not who sent out their initial resume.

It was crazy cause they would confirm and then say last minute they can't come, probably cause of the money issue. So I'm not sure how many did confirm, I guess I should keep track next time.

Cast it pretty much locked down, just have to confirm with Kegan.

We then set the locations, and a shooting date, and we're done! YES! Oh ya then the editing, and score...Carp! (Andrew Kramer)

Some updates. Took off Martha cause she can't make it. We have a new Helen.
Everyone is cast except for Martha!

Just FYI ... when someone signs for a blind/deaf person, typically the blind/deaf person places their hand "on top" of the other person's hand, so they can feel the shape of the hand in order to determine the "sign" being formed.

Good luck on the project.

Thanks Larry. Our Helen actually noes all about this sign language.

I'm getting stressed since we're shooting this Sunday, just being afraid we won't have time. It's just me though...
