Charlotte, NC - DVXUser meeting

Man, I wish I could be there. I am from Charlotte and made my feature film there a few years back. If y'all change your minds and do it between Dec 20th and 26th, I will attend!! (I know, it will be too difficult to coordinate during the holidays).

I am in Durham and could probably come to Charlotte, depending on when the meeting is planned for. I'm a newbie and would love to learn some tips from veterans.

Any more updates on this? I'm in Durham, but would be willing perhaps to drive to Charlotte for the meeting.

I would bet that if you contact Beth Petty in the Charlotte Regional Film Commission, she would find you a place. She was tremendously helpful when I shot my feature in Charlotte a few years ago.

ok, I know this is off the subject, but I might be moving to charlotte within the next year. I am just curious how the job market is for videographer/editor types.

sorry to hijack the thread....but it does look like you guys live in a great place down there.

Will, good idea! Beth was very helpful during the making of 'Afterlife' -- we even shot a scene in the conference room at the Charlotte film commission's offices. I'll drop her a note.

Dan, I don't know the answer to your question. My gut feeling is that Charlotte is rapidly developing as an excellent market for videographers, but that's just a feeling. Maybe Beth Petty could give you more info.

Also the guys at Silver Cup Studios are pretty cool. And the guys at Indivision (off Central Ave in the Plaza Midwood Area - they are personal friends of mine and owners of at least one DVX). Either might be willing to provide space for a meeting.

Did you mean Silver Hammer Studios? They've gone out of business you know, following the death of the owner. Great loss!

I'll check into Indivision...
