NFL 2007-2008 Thread

At least the '72 Dolphin crew will be dead in the next decade or so. The thought of having to listen to Rodney Harrison or Tony Bruschi brag for the rest of my life makes me want to puke. The Pats are undeniably awesome, but I want them to go to the Superbowl against Green Bay and lose in a Brett Favre comeback victory. Favre retires and the Pats go home in tears. Hey, a guy can dream can't he?

That would be sweet.

I suppose yesterday's victory was a nice way to end the season...

I'm going to hold hope that we can build a better O-Line and D-Line this off season.

Yeah...thats what I am hoping for too. I'm glad we won. But yesterday was win/win for us. Had we lost, we would have gotten a top 10 first round draft choice.

It'll be interesting to see what Shanny does at this point. Who he cuts. Who stays. Who goes. Javon Walker by the way said in a press interview that Denver isn't for him. So, I'm sure he's on his way out...

Marshall will be the go to guy with Smith out of the picture. Honestly though, I wouldn't mind a trade for a more seasoned receiver for the other side. It will also be interesting to see who will be starting at tight end. That's always been a key spot for Shanahan.

I won't miss Walker. He's definitely a talented guy, but not irreplaceable.

I know you guys like your team, but enough Bronco's talk for now. They tanked, their season is over. It's playoff time.

We have some rather intriguing match-up's this coming Wild Card weekend. I don't see Tennesee beating San Diego, even if Vince Young plays. But it's possible. One has to really like Jacksonville's chances against the Steelers, especially as they pummeled them just a few short weeks ago, and Pittsburgh's out a couple of key guys (Parker, mainly). The Giants played their guts out against the Pats last week, and I expect an interesting match against the Bucs, but the usual mistakes from poster boy Eli will doom them. The Redskins-Seahawks match-up is probably the most intriguing. The Redskins are on a roll, and it depends on which Seattle team shows up. If a healthy Shaun Alexander has anything left to earn that $15mil salary, now's his chance.

Yeah, the Skins-Seahawks game could be pretty interesting. If I was laying cash I'd take the Skins. But that's a gut thing. Seattle has more talent, but it may not show up.

Now, back the Broncos

I doubt the Redskins can beat Seattle. Hasselbeck has experience in the playoffs and Alexander will do just enough to move on.
Of course the NFC Champs will be either Dallas or Green Bay. Both of them won´t be able to beat New England if everyone stays healthy there.

The only team that right now could beat "The Pets" is Jacksonville. I think there runningback duo is able to keep Brady long enough off the field to keep it close.

I really like Brady but can´t stand Moss´s attitude and also dislinke some of their defensive guys. So I am all for an upset in the AFC Championship game.
Favre would sure deserve to win it. He is a warrior and although I shouldn´t as a 49ers fan I still jump on the Green Bay bandwagon as long as they don´t play NE.

One possible scenario is that Jax beats Pittsburgh, and SD beats Tennessee. Then Jax goes to NE and beats up on NE, but loses. From there the winner of the SD-Indy game would have a better shot at taking a tired NE out (unless they too, are beat up, but Jax is the most physical team in the NFL right now). If the weather is just rotten in NE in two weeks, I'd give Jax a real chance of advancing.

In the NFC, on paper, Seattle has all the tools, but they are just so wishy-washy. As JB says, it depends on who shows up. GB and Dallas are going to be very difficult to beat at home no matter who plays them. In theory, Dallas should go to the Superbowl, I don't see TB or NYG beating them, and GB has lost many games in a row in Dallas. Seattle has taken Dallas out a couple of times recently, but in Dallas, with these line-ups, I don't see it. We'll see.

I agree about the Dallas thing. All I have to root for now is nostalgia. I'm going for Farve.

However, if being a lifetime football fan has taught me one thing...its that its nearly impossible to predict the Superbowl matchup. Even at this late of a date. Could be the Titans vs Giants for all we know.....Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

8 for 16 last week - 50%

As a Pats fan I'm hoping we don't face Jacksonville, not that I don't think we can't beat them, but there a tough football team and I'd rather face someone like the Steelers instead for our first game.

As for Dallas I think Romo will have a so so first game but will struggle in the NFC championship game. I think he's a good quarterback but I think he needs more game expierence before he's fully developed. In some of the games this year (more towards the end of the season) you could tell whenever he made a bad play, threw the ball when he shouldn't have, it really frustrated him and it would carry over to the next series of downs, the last 3 games of the season he wasn't the same quarterback (I blame Jessica Simpson) and I think he'll make some bad plays during the playoffs. With TO questionable, I think Dallas is going to have a tougher time than most think.

This weekends matchups, I like -

Washington Vs Seattle - I think Seattle takes this, Washington just squeaked into the playoffs and they are not to good on the road, I like Seattle's chances at home. Seattle.

Jacksonville Vs Pittsburgh - I think Jacksonville is going to be a real tough matchup for Pittsburgh, Willie Parker going down towards the end of the season didn't help Pittsburgh, their a little banged up too. The weather in Pittsburgh may have an effect on this game too as we've seen in the regular season. Jacksonville wins on the road.

NY Giants Vs Tampa Bay - I haven't seen much of Tampa Bay this year so I really don't have to much insight into them. I've seen NY play a few times mainly last week against the Pats. If NY plays like they did last Saturday night they'll take it to Tampa Bay. I few of their players got hurt last week that are questionable so that may have an effect on the game. During the Pats game I was counting on Manning to throw at least one interception, before the game I said Manning's good for at least one interception and I think that applies to this weeks game too. Regardless, if the Giants bring it like they did last week than Tampa Bay shouldn't pose a problem. NY Giants.

Tennessee Vs San Diego. I'm not a big Chargers fan and honestly I hope they lose, however I don't see that happening againts Tennessee. They barely made it into the playoffs and only did so cos the Colts sat their starters, even then they had a tough time winning the game. San Diego.

A reporter I know was at media day today in Seattle, and both he and the cameraman he was with came away thinking that the Redskins are the "up" team, and inspired, while Seattle themselves weren't even sure which team would show up.

Some not bad wilcard games. The best one being the Jacksonville vs Pittsburgh game, that was a pretty close game.

It's going to be interesting to see what San Diego can do the Colts the last time they played them The Chargers came out on top 23-21 and Manning threw 6 INT's. I didn't think San Diego looked all that great yesterday, the first half they had trouble getting things going.

Eli Manning finally got a playoff win, he looked a lot better and as a I suspected the Giants used that motiviation from the previous week against the Pats against the Bucs, they looked pretty good. I got a feeling the Cowboys are going to have a tough time against their defence. Lets face it too, Eli Manning has more expierence than Tony Romo does, I wouldn't be surprised to see an upset here.

The Tampa team that the Giants beat was no team. They squeaked into the playoffs in a weak division, with a lot of players hurt, or out. I have yet to be, and still am not impressed with Eli. He's been pampered and coddled for sooo long, even to this day there's still a way he gets propped up, especially by the NY media that seems to love the Giants and keep dreaming that someday, some way, he'll be like Peyton - when it's never going to happen. I like Dallas by something like 2 TD's, maybe more. They'll be rested, prepared, and happy at home, and will flatten the Giants.

Seattle's had a hard time at Green Bay forever, and the Packers are very difficult to beat at home in the winter. Seattle is good though, they have experience, and a lot of tools. But unless Farvre tries to do too much and throws lots of picks, I think GB will tough out a win.

I thought Jax looked good, and had a few calls that went against them that could have been bigger than they were, but they won out in the end. They won't beat the Pats in NE though. No way.

While SD did beat Indy earlier, I don't see it happening again. I see the Colts playing very well, jumping out to a nice lead, and holding it the whole way. I have a hunch the Colts are going to look like the Superbowl champs they are this coming weekend. The following week at NE might be another story...
