How to setup my 35mm adapter?

that 70-300mm zoom lens isn't the fastest lens, so will cause problems/camera gain increase in low light conditions especially for video. this will be the case with most zoom lenses, the faster 2.8 lenses will cost thousands (but they are worth it :)). and you probably won't find a zoom with that much focal range, more likely (in a faster speed) to be 28-70mm and 70-200mm at f2.8. regardless, the autofocus won't work on the manual 35mm video adapters.

on the concerns you had for your 55mm macro lense purchased = MEGA BARGAIN!! keep it! it's probably one of the greatest primes, if not lenses in general from nikon. and to get it so cheap upsets me, but nice work! i've got the exact same lense and it works wonders with my Letus adapter. very good for extreme closeups, crisp detail, or just showing off shallow depth of field.

as for the gg/focussing screen alignment, it seems no adapter is 100% centered, so you just have to zoom in a little bit to crop into the frame. as for rotating it a bit, if you're getting rails they should straighten it out for you, or you just have to rotate going off visual output and tighten alens keys accordingly, a bit tedius but works.

The HV20 and HVX200 are known to have problems with offset imaging CCD/CMOS. The adapter itself must be designed to accomodate!

Charles, thanks! I had sometime playing with the 55mm 2.8 lens macro lens and as you pointed out, it's great for macro and subjects of close up. It's nice.

I'll try to look for a f/2.8 70-200mm lens. Thanks for the input. I'd appreciated.

just on that note, the newer Nikon version:
AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED
this has Vibration Reduction which is awesome for still photography
HOWEVER this lens DOES NOT have a manual aperture ring!
that is, you can only control the aperture when using a digital slr's
- A MAJOR upset for them choosing to remove this! MEAN!!!

the vibration reduction is great for low light / fast movement, and would have been interesting to use on a video adapter BUT since this lense automatically locks at f.22 when used on a manual ring/adapter: my non existing 18K HMI's... well, they don't exist, so it's mean

the earlier Nikon f2.8 70-200mm should be nice on a video adapter, keep in mind these lenses are quite heavy so will need support, and you should be able to find this earlier lense (which has external aperture ring) for quite cheap as people seem to "upgrade" to the newer (NO external aperture - mean) version.

Thanks! I'll try to look for that version then.

Any special place where I might find this version? I tried searching ebay but nothing was found for the f2.8 70-200mm version.

yeah, sorry, i meant the f2.8 80-200mm

there's one.

but just found out on my post http://dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=120598 that there may be a way to 'jam' the auto closing to keep the aperture wide open on newer nikon lenses. am going to try it out and hopefully there will be joy :)
