NEW 1024x768 HD Monitor

You've gotta respect DVi's rules guys.

Just because they aren't DVXuser, doesn't mean that we'll let you use 'user as a staging ground for pushing the rules of other forums.

I'm not saying that I don't agree that it's a good product that's existence should be discussed, nore that I agree or disagree with DVinfo's advertising rules; but Chris and the team over at DVi are our friends, so we respect their wishes. They have no problem with products being discussed (that's the main focus of their forum after all), but you shouldn't use them as an advertising ground - find other ways, reasons, to discuss the Carrion other than just "it exists, check it out". It's all about motivation. :)

Also, keep in mind that Chris surly reads DVXuser too, just as we read DVi. :)

But enough about DVi, they have their own mods & goings on. Back to the Carrion that we all want to hear more about...

Yea, I guess "it exists, check it out" isn't good enough... "it exists,it is great, it is super-affordable and it is changing the market, check it out" might be a bit better but your argument still holds up...

...Siniarch, I give it less than a week before someone catches on. The buzz is building up man. As soon as someone who is active in DVinfo get's theirs I am sure a thread will pop up.

It is frustrating when you want the world to talk about it but get a knock back like that. I posted on there if anyone knew of where I could lay my hands on a new Sony EX1 and the thread was locked, because Chris's rules are that only companies advertising with them get a mention. Understandable as they are the forum sponsors.

So why not speak directly to Chris Hurd and become a site sponsor? Shouldn't cost very much and will give you a good bit of airtime. Plus you are scratching his back and he is helping you. Works both ways.

Hey siniarch

Hey siniarch

Nice! I thought those plates came off awfully easy when you were demonstrating to us at the HVX LA meeting... but I think I might end up with the dual Tekkon rig for balancing purposes, certainly getting the rubber mounts for them too!

What was the running time for it with two Tekkons again?

On the same boat...

They really do come off very easily.

I love the progress you have made. Just wanted to chime in. A while ago you told me (siniarch) to try out the Tekkon Battery, and I it came in really handy. Just wanted to show you my solution to the double Tekkon mount.

They really do come off very easily.
I used a left over RedRock plate, M2 strap & velcro strips for a sturdy under mount. I use the battery for my LCD and it seems like it last for ever. From time to time I use it for my camera at 7.5 I've yet to run it out. Congrats on the DV Expo, and continued success. I more then likely be getting one off of you in the near future.

jdajda,
Thank, yes, I'm looking for numbers. In order to keep the prices down, I need to order at least 100 units. Otherwise, my price is way too low. So the more I hear people want it, the more likely I'll place the order.

It looks like you have them mounted on the front side. Isn't there a little play when jerking the rig around? Well I think there might if that is a velcro mount and you go shoulder mounted or hand held for action stuff.

What are you using them for? Is it for a Carrion?

Not at all man. That thing is sturdy as hell. What I did was place velcro not only between the M2 plate and the Tekkon. I also placed it between the 2 batteries out of site. With the velcro in place not only do I get a solid attachment between the batteries the plastic Tekkon face plates on the front and rear of the battery fit alot more snug like I'm sure they were intended. The don't come off like they did before I came up with this config.

BTW, that M2 strap has a rubber under side that once strapped tight it won't allow any movement. It works just fine. Lucky for me I already had the M2 plate, rails, & strap.

Once I get my 24" rails I will reconfigure the battery to the rear of the camera to counter the weight of the Extreme adapter.

I didn't know that. I think that kind of defeats the purpose. I mean, not to mention a company because it doesn't advertise, really limits the information being spread. Chris has every right to have whichever rule he wants, but this one I disagree with.
But as Mikko mentioned, back to the topic at hand.

ifownlee41nite@mac.com,
I think the plates coming off easy that USLatin was talking about was the ones for the back of my monitor. I have them attach with 4 thumb screws. so its really easy to attach.
as for the Tekkeon, I'm glad you like them. They are a very versatile solution, but it can also be dangerous if you feed more voltage to a device that can't handle it.

USLatin,
"rules so tight are why I rarely read their forum" I hear that.
Regarding the Battery solution I'm workin on, I can't discuss it in public yet.

ifownlee41nite, so it sounds it is nice and snug... nice man... saved a few bucks there for sure. what are you powering with them and how long do they last?

siniarch, well if it is top secret I like it already :)

USLatin,
Not sure if he saved a few bucks, If I'm not mistaken he is using the Redrock Micro Pod, which I think its $295 to hang the tekkeon batteries from? I've had the chance to use the Micro PowerPod which is the same thing with the bracket and the v-mount plate attached to it. Very solid construction.

How long? Hmmmmmm....

I use it on my camera mostly. The longest I have ran it has been a 10hr day and it held up for the entire shoot. A friend of mine has rented it from me and he shot for at least 8hr with it connected to my Totvision 12v monitor. I love this thing. Plus it look great with my rig. I just ordered my 24" rails. Once they arrive I'll be relocating it to the rear of my setup to equal out the weight.

Hey Guys,

Just so you know, the new DV magazine (2008 Feb) mentions my monitor at the bottom of Page 27.

Wohooooo!!!!

Thanks Ned for taking the time to look at my product. :)

AWESOME, Luis!

I've been playing with Luis' monitor the last two days and must say that it is a masterpiece . . . I mounted it on a Noga arm to the A-B battery plate of the Zacuto rig. While I know it is possible to mount to the HVX handle, I somehow just don't feel totally secure with that flimsy handle.

Hi Ned! Long time no talk. While the article you wrote about my workflow never appeared in the mag, I hold no grudges. :) You can make it up to me by coming to interview me in Austin, Texas the weekend of Jan 19th. :D I'll be there doing promotion and press at the Fangoria convention for a feature (http://imdb.com/title/tt1078591/) I shot using the HVX200/Brevis.

Oh, I hear you about mounting on the handle. However, I still do it and use this handy piece for reinforcement:

HVX200-10pt148.gif
Works with AG-HVX200
Note: Mount covers zoom on camera handle.

nice going!

great products deserve great free advertising

Well he has been shipping if that's what you mean.
Siniarch if there are any other threads with more info could you link us?

No USLatin,
As far as I know this thread has the most information on the monitor other than my web site.

FatDaddy,
As USLatin said, I'm shipping if that's what you are asking. I do have to update the waiting time from 2-3 weeks to 4-5 weeks. I have sold all the units I currently have and I have to wait for the mnf. to deliver me new components. I wish I could crack the whip, but it seems that in the LCD world, everything moves slow.

siniarch, just saw your monitor mentioned in the monitor line-up in this month's DV magazine. Congrats on the publicity.
