Sorry, I only have 10megs at dvxuser for photos. I had to delete these to post more pictures.

WOW!.... now I'm definately sold on the HPX3000 over the RED. Can you uprez actual videos with that program? or is it only still images?

Absolutely, This is an automation plug-in for photoshop cs3. So heres what a workflow might look like...

1.Shoot 1080p
2.Edit Online
3.Export your entire finished project in a dpx sequence or other type of lossless image sequence.
4.Open one frame up in photoshop
5. Apply the blow-up
6. Batch the rest of the frames and deliver in any format you want!

It would be rare to actually deliver 4k, but this seems like a nice option.

Let me also add... finishing film/video projects in photoshop is quite common for color-correction and special effects.

although it is nice, it does not compete anywhere near what the RED can achieve. There is much more noise and the detail isnt there for a 4 k image.

It would be nice to shoot 1080p uncompressed before doing the blow-up to reduce noise, but I actually added a little grain to this image and remember its also a 956Kb jpeg.

The people who watch your content wont give a rip about noise/grain anyways..they just want content.

it looks great even with a little grain:) i like the red--- in theory but the 3000 is very cool too and would work in to more current set up for post.

Here is a RED4k grab I found on reduser.net (Not sure who took the photo), I post sharpened the image to make a fair comparison and CCed it just slightly to correct for the low-contrast and saved it as a 4k jpeg. I didnt add any grain. Oh yeah, I started with a 48MB tiff file.

The RED4k for comparison:

Could I see a copy of the image you made from 1080 to 4k, in 8k?.... if that's possible? I want to release to IMAX too, so I'd like to see what the HPX3000 at 8k would look like.

Thanks.

8k might be a bit too much. thats like 20 something megapixels. iMax films are lucky if they can actually resolve 4k. It is possible to do it, but the files would be too large for me to host on dvxuser.

Thanks for posting the frame grab. Do you have any wider shots you could post?
