Not a film, but a wedding trailer!

that was really good!

i like that for a change from the drab normal wedding stuff. it reminded me of an intro to a reality show wedding or something. it was good and as a film nut i loved it.

but the question is will the clients like it? idk i really dont

Hi, Thx for your comment.

I have had this on other boards for review and i find it fascinating to see how different people see it!

Comments have been extremely positive on the whole to completely negative.

I guess it really comes down to personal taste and I know how many here may hate the 'wedding video'. I have sent this as a competition entry on a programe called wedding tv here in England.

So rather than from a clients perspective, do you think this will favour well for a competition entry??? stating a montage up to 5-6min as the rules!!!

Thank you again.

Watched It Again And Love Your Style Only Thing I Would Possibly Change Is The Soundtrack, Maybe Something A Little More ""wedding-ish""

Hi Sundance.

Thank you for your feedback and encouragement. Yes it is the music that seems to be contraversial!, although if i made it more wedding-ish would it then not fit in line with all the other boring, same, and so so wedding trailers?

Just my thoughts, although I have to respect others on this as my judgement can be slightly biased:laugh:

cheers,
ceefa

Personally I loved the trailer but did think you might find music with an even better fit.

But, at the end of the day all that matters is what your clients like!

Nice Work!

Thanks for sharing!

i think that would fit perfect for the competition! i think most people would like it for a regular wedding trailer, but you def have it spot on for the competition.

I really really liked it i find most wedding videos very boring.

The music was a little strange for a wedding video it seemed more fitting for like a summer blockbuster more then a wedding video so i dont honestly know how your average client would like that but the editing was spot on kept it interesting and you had some really good shots in there.

Overall very nice i liked everything about it only critique i would make is maybe tone down the music just a tad, i like the excitement but i think it just went a little over the top.... but good luck in the competition this was excellent work keep it up.

Thank you for your comments. I have to say this was done not specifically for the clients as I had already handed over their film, but mainly for the competition.

When I have spare time I tend to mess around with footage just to keep me from going rusty.

Thx again. I will keep updated on the competition. The results are in around early Jan 08.

Ceefa.

As a marketing tool, that would sell a wedding photography service - certainly. It's different and that's what makes it stand out.

Good luck!

Music such as you used really requires the edits to be on the beat and "punched." Someone described the music as "summer blockbuster" and it is. Watch any trailer and you'll see the cuts are right on the beat.
Your storyline doesn't really follow the progression of the music. Where it's building in intensity, you're showing subdued scenes.
Does this mean I don't like it? No. I applaud your idea and your daring. Tune it up a bit and I think you'll have a winner.
By tuning it up I mean build some suspense into it. I liked the blowouts at the beginning. Let's see some more, and not of the B and G. I don't want to know it's a wedding video until it's too late to turn back.
Just me tuppence.

Hi Wild..............

Thx for your comments and insight. Unfortunately I have already sent this for the competition. I have to be honest I love this music track. Maybe I am quirky:shocked:

Lets hope I don't scare too many judges away!

Thx again.

Hi Charlie,

This was filmed with a Sony HDR FX1, not sure if its called the same in America!

I also colour graded it in the editing using FCP. You did not comment on the clip though:)

Cheers.

Hey

GREAT camera work, but I didn't feel like I was watching a wedding.

It really felt like I was watching an action film. I was waiting to see something explode or hear some hairy-chested leading man shout "Merry Christmas, mother f@$%#ers!" before tossing a grenade into the midst of some bad guys.

Ceefa,
Welcome to the real world. Some people are going to like your stuff and some people aren't. The main thing is did you and the client like it? If you said yes, then screw everyone else. I will say, come of those posters are pretty lame. One word critiques do not inform nor educate. I've detailed what I thought of the project. I wouldn't call it a "film" exactly and wouldn't have entered it into a "film" contest as it was cut. A little work and it could be a great short film.
