Action Figure Roommate Ep. 1

Great animation. It was very smooth, and the camera movement added a lot to it.
Did you just capture stills with your dvx? How long did it take you?

Yup, I had my DVX hooked up to Sony Vegas and grabbed stills as I went along. All together it was probably a 100 hours or so spread over a week.

Sweet man so for all the stop motion animation you used the grabbed stills? I know when I was younger I would used my dads old cam corder and do the whole push record, stop, move character, push record again.....

Pretty cool William has nothing on your Depature doc :)

im still not sure how you managed to get that hand held feeling with the stop animation? There was no jitter from frame to frame.

All the camera movement was done in post using a combination of AE and Vegas. Much easier and better looking (IMO) then trying to do it when shooting. The goal was to completely incorporate the character Chuck into the real live world and although stop-motion camera movement does have a certain charm, it is not what I was looking for here.

William, we screened this today at the daily "Cinevate Team Screening" session. Laughs from the whole team...and thumbs up from everyone here :-)

Interesting way to go about it, I would have never thought of that. It all makes sense now :)

Great short ! I was just searching the forums for 'stop-motion' and came across yours. Very nice work.
